Chapter 1859: Chapter 1956: The Mystery of the Mural
Fang Lin leapt forward, landing in the village beneath the cliff, startling the villagers into a defensive stance as they grabbed various weapons and stared at Fang Lin warily.
Several men clad in animal skins even jumped up to attack Fang Lin, and their cultivation levels were rather impressive, having reached the Spirit Source Realm, not far from the Longevity Realm.
Yet, how could Fang Lin be easily captured by these mountain folk? He lightly released his own aura, instantly forcing the animal-skinned men back.
These men looked at Fang Lin in shock, sensing an overwhelming pressure from him, a pressure they had never felt even when encountering powerful Demon Beasts during hunts.
Though they were mountain folk, these animal-skinned men clearly understood that this seemingly young outsider was definitely not someone to be trifled with.
"I mean no harm," Fang Lin spoke, trying to appear more amiable, but the surrounding people evidently did not perceive him as particularly friendly, still glaring at him with hostility, even the kids brandished simple wooden spears toward him.
Fang Lin felt a bit helpless; even though his appearance had changed, surely he didn’t look menacing.
"Who are you?" The tallest of the animal-skinned men spoke, his voice loud.
Fang Lin calmly said, "I am sent by your benefactor."
His words left everyone around stunned. They looked at each other, some showing doubt, while others seemed disbelieving, scrutinizing Fang Lin suspiciously.
The man who had spoken earlier had a dark face; he frowned, scrutinized Fang Lin again, and said, "I don’t understand what you’re talking about."
Fang Lin knew these people were very cautious and wouldn’t believe him based on a simple claim.
"Who helped your tribe survive and thrive here? Who taught you Martial Arts cultivation techniques? And who left the writings on the cliff? Have you all forgotten?" Fang Lin’s face darkened, his tone somewhat stern.
Sure enough, his words shocked the animal-skinned men and the other villagers alike. When they looked at Fang Lin again, their expressions changed, with some now showing reverence.
However, the animal-skinned men didn’t let their guard down completely, just weren’t as hostile as before.
"What’s your relationship with the benefactor?" the leading animal-skinned man asked.
Fang Lin straightforwardly replied, "I was sent by him. If you have further doubts, I have other ways to prove myself."
Upon hearing Fang Lin claim to be sent by their benefactor, the leading animal-skinned man looked even more surprised and asked, "If you can prove your identity, we’ll believe you were sent by the benefactor."
Fang Lin didn’t bother with unnecessary words, knowing these people practiced the Source Opening Dharma taught by Fang Qingye. He promptly demonstrated the cultivation technique, and an aura similar to theirs flowed around him.
Sensing the Source Opening Dharma, the people finally believed Fang Lin, as in their view, only the benefactor or those related to him would perform this technique.
What they didn’t know was that before entering the Pill Saint Palace in his past life, Fang Lin had learned many Martial Arts cultivation methods from his father Fang Qingye. But he truly had no talent in Martial Arts back then; he’d learn one and forget another, dabbling in various techniques without mastering any, essentially a half-baked practitioner.
Fang Lin only knew a little about the Source Opening Dharma, but the villagers didn’t have much knowledge to see through Fang Lin’s level, assuming that sharing the aura meant practicing the same cultivation technique.
The leading animal-skinned man put away his weapon and walked up to Fang Lin with an expression of respect, seemingly unsure of what to say, his demeanor somewhat awkward.
Fang Lin initiated the conversation: "The benefactor sent me this time to enter the ancient cave to check the murals and leave some Pills for you."
The animal-skinned man, hearing Fang Lin wanted to enter the ancient cave, said, "Since you were sent by the benefactor, entering the ancient cave is no problem."
After a pause, the animal-skinned man curiously asked, "What are Pills?"
Fang Lin was taken aback, surprised that the people here didn’t even know what Pills were. But it was understandable; they might’ve been isolated for too long.
Fang Lin tried to explain in simple terms, "Pills are substances that can make your tribe’s bodies stronger."
Upon hearing the Pills could strengthen their bodies, the animal-skinned man wore a delighted expression, rubbing his hands with an embarrassed look.
Fang Lin said, "Take me to the ancient cave first."
The animal-skinned man nodded repeatedly, leading Fang Lin to the base of the cliff, just as Fang Lin remembered—a stone wall showing no unusual signs, while the man traced his hands over the wall, gradually revealing patterns.
Before long, a formation was constructed by the animal-skinned man, who beckoned to Fang Lin and promptly disappeared into the rock face.
Fang Lin also stepped forward, vanishing from sight, having entered the ancient cave hidden within the stone wall.
Within the cave, Fang Lin felt a stir in his heart; the twelve murals he had once seen were still there.
Seeing these twelve murals, identical to those in his memory, Fang Lin’s eyes showed shock, as the murals not only recorded past events but also foretold future occurrences, with a vast span of time.
With this, Fang Lin had a major question in mind; who left these murals? Could the person who left them foresee the future?
Among those Fang Lin knew, only Xuanyuan Ya seemed capable of predicting the future, albeit only seeing vague glimpses.
Animal-skinned man knelt before the first mural, appearing extremely devout and respectful, though the first mural merely depicted Mountain Tu, with nothing else present.𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
Fang Lin frowned, examining the twelve murals one by one; aside from the twelfth mural being blank, the other eleven were identical to those seen later.
"Could these murals have been left by different people at different times?" Fang Lin suddenly entertained such a thought.
