Chapter 2042: Chapter 2052: How Was She Supposed to Know He Met the Family Alone?
"Do you know how public opinion outside has exploded? For every day you delay, your and Rhine’s reputation takes another hit. You’re giving others a chance, did she ever give you a chance before?" Baron Lawrence’s grip on her wrist was painfully tight.
Enna Clark couldn’t help but pull her hand away, angrily saying, "And just now you said I did a great job?" His fickleness was beyond comprehension.
Though she knew Baron Lawrence’s feelings were too complicated, so complicated that even he wasn’t sure of the best way to proceed.
Baron Lawrence was caught off guard, momentarily speechless.
Enna Clark ignored him, sidestepped him, and headed for the living room...
Sure enough, Gigi was already in the living room.
She was flitting around Bobby like a butterfly, "Brubby, candies."
"Brubby, bought candies."
Bobby was starting to get dizzy from her circles, held her still, frowned, and impatiently said, "What candies? Did you behave well today?"
Giselle Lawrence only got candies from Bobby when she was on her best behavior.
No one expected that as soon as he spoke, the cheerful little girl puffed up her chubby cheeks as if she had been gravely wronged; her large, earnest eyes turned red, and she puffed her cheeks, accusingly pointing at Bobby saying, "Liar! Brubby is a liar!"
Bobby was baffled, having been called a liar, more confused than anyone, grabbed the girl who was about to run off, "How did I lie to you? Speak properly! Or else there won’t be any candies today, and tomorrow’s batch will be deducted too!"
His words were like kicking a hornet’s nest, the already upset girl nearly jumped up and kept mumbling, "Brubby is a liar, a big liar, Gigi won’t play with Brubby ever again, liar, bad."
Bobby, "..." What should he do about this little fool?
Just then, someone from the bedroom came out and suddenly interjected, "The candies are with Scott Harris, let him give them to you later."
Bobby looked up, puzzled, "What candies?"
Baron Lawrence replied with an incredible calmness, without any sense of guilt, "I went to Gigi’s place earlier. She asked where you were, and I told her you went to buy candies for her."
"!!"
Enna Clark looked at him in surprise, "You went to Gigi’s place? When? Did you meet..." Wouldn’t Baron Lawrence have met her Little Uncle or Grandma by himself?
Baron Lawrence was still brooding over how Enna Clark had talked back to him just now and left him standing alone, running off to the living room on her own. Hearing her question, he pressed his lips tightly, reluctant to respond. Yet, his honest body betrayed him, and his lips moved, "I did."
With his hands in his pockets, exuding both dominance and a hint of impatience, he retorted to Enna, "Do you care? Your attention wasn’t on me anyway!"
Enna Clark, flustered by the question, didn’t know how to respond, "I’ve just been a bit busy lately. That’s why I wasn’t paying attention. Besides, you never mentioned it to me..."
Indeed, he hadn’t mentioned it to her, so how was she to know he had gone to see her Little Uncle and Grandma?
She couldn’t imagine the scene of Baron Lawrence meeting her Little Uncle and Grandma alone. With his temperament, would he stir up trouble?
Grandma clearly favored Lyle Westbrook a bit more. If Grandma brought up that past playful betrothal joke with Lyle Westbrook in front of him, who knows how this man would react...
