230 A Hot Drink
“It’s milk tea! Zhao Zhan, don’t tell me you’ve memorized all the things I’ve been mumbling about!”
Yue Jiaojiao’s eyes sparkled as she leaned over and gave Zhao Zhan’s face a heavy kiss. Then, she sat back on the bench and took a sip. “It’s delicious!”
Seeing that she liked it, Zhao Zhan felt incomparably happy.
...He stuffed the hand warmer that had been kept warm into Yue Jiaojiao’s arms and sat down beside her, shoulder to shoulder with her. “Does your head still hurt?”
“I feel much better now.”
Yue Jiaojiao did not have much experience in drinking wine in both her previous and current lives. She did not expect that she would actually fall for this little fruit wine today.
She couldn’t help blushing when she thought of how she had clearly been sober but had taken the opportunity to go crazy because of the alcohol.
“My face doesn’t seem hot anymore.”
Zhao Zhan placed the back of his hand on the woman’s face and felt it with a serious expression. “If you still feel uncomfortable, I’ve left you some hangover soup.”
“Don’t spout nonsense, I’m fine.” Yue Jiaojiao realized that there was a cowardly tone in her voice that she didn’t even notice when she spoke. She shut herself up for a moment and lowered her head, immersing herself in the milk tea.
Zhao Zhan’s craftsmanship had improved.
She didn’t know what tools he used to pick out the tea foam without a trace.
The milk tea was warm, and with a sip, her entire body warmed up from the inside out. Yue Jiaojiao felt her limbs stretch out because of the heat, and she couldn’t help but sigh with satisfaction.
Zhao Zhan loved it when she was like this. Just by accompanying her like this, he would be able to live his days happily to the end of time.
“Zhao Zhan.” When she realized that he had been staring at her for a long time without moving, Yue Jiaojiao nudged him with her shoulder. “Did you hear the sound of the metal pieces in our room?”
“It’s New Year’s Eve today, so there shouldn’t be anyone here. Is Fang Tianliu drunk and acting crazy at the door?”
“I’ll go take a look. It’s cold outside, stay here.” Zhao Zhan touched the hand warmer in the woman’s arms to see if it had turned cold before standing up. “I’ll be back soon.”
Yue Jiaojiao nodded obediently.
Zhao Zhan quickly walked to the front yard and opened the door. He was surprised to see the person standing at the door. “Xiaolang?”
“S-sir.” Chen Xiaolang’s trousers were half-soaked as he walked over. He shivered from the cold and took out a letter from his pocket and handed it to him. “I was walking around Qian Conreng’s house after lunch to see if I could meet the woman he saved. I didn’t expect to hear two people saying that they were going to send a letter to their house.”
“The relay stations don’t even open their doors during the New Year. So I wondered who would send a letter out. I felt that something was wrong, so I deliberately bumped into them and stole the letter.
“I’m illiterate, but I was worried that this matter might have something to do with Madam Zhao, so I quickly brought it here.”
“Come in and warm yourself up.” Zhao Zhan stuffed the letter into his arms haphazardly and made way for him. “Dry your pants first. Otherwise, if it’s wet and sticks to your body, you won’t be able to warm yourself up.”
“It’s okay, I won’t disturb you guys during the New Year.”
Chen Xiaolang turned around and was about to leave when Zhao Zhan dragged him in and pushed him into the front yard. “Doctor Zhou and the others are all here. Take a seat first. I’ll go to the kitchen and bring a basin and hot water over.”
