Chapter 1455: Slow Down

After their marriage, Prince Nuo Nuo treated Princess Shuangfu with exceptional care and consideration. However, it was quite a challenge for a bold and rugged Prince of Qingdi to adapt to such refined behavior.

Seeing this, Qiao Xuan smiled at Shao Yunduan and suggested, “Husband, why don’t you two go ahead? I will take my time with the princess and engage in a pleasant conversation.”

Princess Shuangfu eagerly added, “Yes, please proceed without us!”

She was still getting used to riding a horse gracefully, and sitting for an extended period left her back and legs stiff and uncomfortable. Catching up with Prince Nuo Nuo and the others seemed like an insurmountable task, even if her life depended on it. Furthermore, the diplomatic group would be departing in a few days, separating her from Qiao Xuan, making this precious opportunity to be together all the more valuable.

Prince Nuo Nuo had been eager for some action, so upon hearing this, he readily agreed, “Very well, take your time! Lord Shao, let’s embark on a wolf-hunting expedition. With any luck, we might even come across a herd of wild horses!”

The prospect of encountering the elusive wild horses was met with enthusiastic cheers from Qingdi and his companions. These horses were the most enigmatic inhabitants of the grasslands, known for their elusive nature and speed. Taming them and making them mounts was a feat that would earn them the admiration of all.

The wild horses possessed an incredible sense of pride and spirit. They would rather face death than submit if they felt unwilling to be tamed. Some even attempted to capture a wild horse, only to witness it defiantly resist and starve itself to death.

Shao Yunduan wasn’t particularly interested in hunting wolves or wild horses; he would have preferred to stay and converse with his wife. Unfortunately, the circumstances didn’t allow for it.

With no other option, Shao Yunduan responded graciously. He glanced at Qiao Xuan and smiled warmly, saying, “Enjoy your time with the Princess; we’ll go ahead.”

Qiao Xuan reciprocated the smile, and the two parties went their separate ways.

Prince Nuo Nuo spurred everyone to hasten their departure, his horse at the forefront, whip held high in anticipation.

As the group rode off with their whips raised, Princess Shuangfu observed the scene with a soft sigh.

Walking alongside her, Qiao Xuan shared a lighthearted chuckle. “The prince is refreshingly candid. His straightforwardness is quite reassuring.”

Princess Shuangfu’s demeanor relaxed, and a faint smile graced her delicate features. She gently nodded and responded, “You’re absolutely right.”

Deep down, who hadn’t harbored secret fantasies about their future spouse? Who didn’t hope for a partner who was handsome, youthful, promising, cultured, and considerate? When reality diverged from these ideal expectations, it could lead to disappointment and regret.

Qiao Xuan’s words brought her a sense of relief.

While he might not be meticulous or overly considerate, there was a certain charm in Prince Nuo Nuo’s straightforward nature. At the very least, there were no hidden motives or complex emotions to decipher.

Having distanced themselves from the main group, the two of them strolled leisurely, engaging in conversations about family matters and avoiding any discussion of their impending separation.

Occasionally, Qiao Xuan would express that he was feeling fatigued and desired a brief respite, or he would suggest that the scenery was worth savoring. Princess Shuangfu appreciated his consideration, understanding that horseback riding wasn’t a task suited for women.

She couldn’t fathom why the Qingdi people held such an affinity for horses, even proudly proclaiming that their children could ride horses by the age of three. What was there to boast about in such a skill?
