Lu Xinyi frowned. She couldn’t understand how the heck she could get the right answer for this math problem. She’d never been good with numbers. She hated math as long as she could remember. She loved counting money though.
“Math, why don’t you grow up and solve your own damn problems? Seriously, are you really a drama queen? You can’t possibly have that many problems.”
Her grip on her pencil tightened as she glared at her papers as if it had done a mortal sin to mankind. She was pissed that none of the answers she came up were even one of the choices.
“What are you complaining about now?” Shen Yi lifted his head from his work and looked at his wife who had plopped herself on the floor of their living room. She was wearing a white shirt and a pair of shorts, her hair carelessly tied in a ponytail. She was grumbling to herself while working on the math problems at their coffee table.
“Math problems.”
He watched as Lu Xinyi took her mug with a brownie inside and scooped it with a spoon. Didn’t he say she should lose her extra weight? He guessed that his wife and his brother had ditched their morning exercises while he wasn’t around.
“Why don’t you sit here beside me so I can teach you?” he offered.
“Nah, the coffee table is fine.”
Shen Yi gave her a flat look before standing up from the couch and joining his wife on the floor.
“Let me see the problem.” He took the paper from his wife’s hand and read its contents. “This is simple. Find the value of x first, and the rest should be easy. Here.” He took the pencil from her hand and scribbled the solution on the vacant space of the paper.
Lu Xinyi’s mind started spinning. How the fuck was he able to get the right answer? Whoever invented the imaginary numbers on math should be crucified. Didn’t he know that math was a mental abuse to humans?
To be honest, she wasn’t really that bad with simple math until alphabet was mixed into it.
“See? Easy.” Her husband gave back her paper.
Lu Xinyi scoffed.
“Well, not everyone is like you, mister.”
Shen Yi shrugged his shoulders.
“I’m just good at whatever I do.”
“Conceited.” She hissed.
“Perhaps, but still, you chose to marry me knowing that fact.” He gave her a half smirk. ρꪖꪕᦔꪖꪕꪫꪣꫀꪶ
“Just for the less fantastic attitude of yours, you can take this couch tonight.”
“You wouldn’t.”
“What made you think I can’t?” She challenged back.
“You said you hate math, and I helped you with it. You’re inconsiderate to me, Xinyi.”
“Excuse me, mister, but at least, I can count. You wouldn’t see me in the supermarket express lane if I couldn’t.” Lu Xinyi deadpanned as she started to stack the papers in place. “And I didn’t ask you to!”
“Inconsiderate indeed. Not to mention being rude to your husband.”
“So?” she nonchalantly replied, taking her mug to finish off her cake.
Since the Shen Matriarch took pity on her (and probably to Shen Yi), she volunteered to look after the twins with Madam Jin’s help back at the Shen Mansion until her exams end. Lu Xinyi had the liberty to eat cakes and desserts without worrying about her babies.
Shen Yi only stared at her. His eyes seemingly tried to penetrate within her as if searching for some hidden meaning. She felt self-conscious somehow and shifted slightly uncomfortable. She was so distracted that she didn’t see him taking her mug from her hand.
“Hey! Give me back my mug cake!”
“What will you give in return?” he asked. He made sure to put the mug away from her so she couldn’t reach it.
“Whatever you need to give me the freedom to eat everything.”
They sat staring at each other for several seconds, neither of them willing to back down. Slowly, he moved forward, the action momentarily distracting his wife. It was long enough for him to pounce on her. Thankfully, she didn’t hit her head on the coffee table.
Lu Xinyi eeped loud before it was replaced with a peal of laughter when Shen Yi slid his hands beneath her shirt and started to tickle her sides. Her legs kicked out in the air as he continued tickling her.
“S-stop!” she shrieked out.
Shen Yi stopped, but his hands stayed where it was. He noticed Lu Xinyi’s breath hitched and she didn’t tell him to stop, not even when he slipped off her shirt and peppered her neck with kisses. She was not surprised when her husband chose to pin her wrist above her head.
“Wife, when did you become such a tease?” he asked in between his kisses.
