Chapter 2549: Talk to Spirits

Chapter 2549: Talk to Spirits

Sam went back to the mountain.

By now, the team didn’t know if they should argue with him or not. But Sam’s friends are really angry. Even Watt who wouldn’t refute anything Sam did, is kinda fuming.

"I got protection. You guys didn’t. I was planning to escape to another dimension.

So, stop. We don’t have time to waste. We need to mark our territory before midnight and for that, we need to have a chat with certain someone."

Sam said and assigned different tasks for them.

What they did this time was a really big thing.

Something that they shouldn’t have been able to pull off. So, even with Sam’s little stunt they were still in awe about what they just saw.

They went to take care of stuff they were assigned to.

Meanwhile, Sam sent some specially designed puppets out of the island. They were much larger than usual bird puppets and they were built differently as well.

After they travelled around a hundred miles, forming a large hundred mile radius circle with the island as the center, their wings got folded into it and they dropped into the sea.

Within this hundred mile radius, there was no sign of any land mass and even the seas do no have any creatures that are of higher level that Middle stage Consummation.

As these puppets landed in the water, several smaller puppets modeled after fish swam out. They spread around within the circle, occupying their predetermined position.

They all activated at the same time and created a basic formation.

It wasn’t even a complete barrier formation. Just a translucent barrier anyone could pass through. It was barely made to mark his territory.

Once it was done, Sam went to the lower half of the island. This is the part of the island that was not turned into a gateway to the shadow world.

Sam went to a certain spot where the largest tree and the largest mountain on the island are present.

Sam stood in the air, looking at them both.

"I don’t know if you can understand me, but I would like to have a talk with you two."

Two ethereal translucent creatures appeared, one from the mountain and the other from the tree.

Both of them felt like they shouldn’t belong in that world, at the same time they felt like they were the intricate part of it.

They weren’t even that big...

One of them is the tree spirit and the other one is the mountain spirits.

The tree spirit is a slender, graceful being whose form seems to have grown from the forest itself. Her skin is textured like smooth bark, shifting in hue with the seasons—from deep, mossy green in spring to rich, amber-brown in autumn. Fine vines coil around her limbs like natural jewelry, and delicate leaves sprout along her shoulders and hair, fluttering softly even without wind. Her eyes shimmer like dew-laden leaves, reflecting the forest canopy above, and her hair cascades like a waterfall of vines, flowers, and tendrils.

The mountain spirit is massive and imposing, a living embodiment of stone and snow. His skin is a rugged, granite-like texture, mottled with veins of silver or crystal that catch the sunlight. Jagged rock formations rise from his shoulders like natural armor, and his hair is a cascade of snow, frost, and loose gravel, occasionally dropping shards that glint like tiny stars. His eyes glow with the pale blue of glacial ice, deep and ancient, exuding a quiet, immovable wisdom. His arms resemble craggy cliffs, and his fingers taper into stalactite-like points.

They looked pretty imposing and pure.

"Hello, I am Sam. Nice to meet you two."

Sam spoke. The mountain spirit just looked at him with its arms crossed with no visible expression on his face. The tree spirit however, with a smile flew towards him, circling him around, occasionally sniffing him.

"I am right. You are indeed our friend."

Sam was surprised by those words.

"Excuse me?" Sam asked.

"You... you smell like our friend. You are our friend. You are my friend."

Even though Sam couldn’t understand what she was saying and why she was saying those things, he knew one thing... she didn’t look like she was lying.

Sam looked at the mountain spirit to see if he could get some answers, but he just nodded and said.

"You indeed are."

Sam wanted to ask some questions, but after some thought, he figured he might as well finish his purpose here first before worrying about it.

"As I said, I am Sam. And I have come to conquer some parts of this world. Your island is the first part.

As you might have seen, I have killed a lot of beasts on this island. However, whenever my team stepped in a region, the tree spirits and mountain spirits left that region on their own initiative and they even ended up moving close to you.

Observing the lack of hostility, I held back from attacking the spirits, hoping to figure out if we can have a middle ground.

That’s why I came searching for you.. the strongest spirits on this island."

The tree spirit smiled and said.

"I know, that’s because you are their friend. You are my friend. Friends should help each other. If you need territory, we can move further."

Sam frowned in confusion. This is too good to be true. He cannot gauge the accurate strength of these two spirits, even with his energy eyes and observation.

They are strong, truly strong. That is for sure.

But they just acted in his favor, giving in to him without any trouble.

So, just to test it...

"I don’t need you to move. You can stay on this half of the island without worries. I won’t expand that shadow formation... I just want this to be my territory. Is that alright?"

"Of course it is. Anything for you, my friend." The tree spirit replied.

"I have a lot of questions... but right now, I am busy. I will come and meet you guys in a bit."
