The Chronicles of the Immortal God

Chapter 265: One step ahead as usual

Chapter 265: One step ahead as usual

Fang Lin felt that Princess Lilliana was starting to become more and more mysterious on his eyes. Someone that can steal a person’s cultivation must have a heavenly-defying ability!

“Wait...” Fang Lin then remembered Elissa saying that when Princess Lilliana was born, an auspicious sign appeared on the sky. Couple that with her heavenly-defying ability, there can be one explanation for her ability.

“Is she a Godly Divine Beast like me and Xue’er?” Fang Lin looked at Xue’er who seemingly arrived at the same conclusion.

Fang Lin shook his head as he remembered something. “She cannot be a Godly Divine Beast because neither me nor Xue’er was able to sense that she was a Godly Divine Beast! Is she were one, we should have sensed that earlier!”

“But since we did not sense anything like that, that only meant she must be a different type of being. But what type of being was she....”

Fang Lin pondered this deeply, as he realized that knowing her true form will allow Fang Lin to deal with Princess Lilliana in case that she decides to deal with him.

In the end, Fang Lin could only sigh as even he could not recall anything remotely like Princess Lilliana.

He can try asking his master, but with the matters of the Immortal God Sect, Wang Hao was surely busy right now. Fang Lin does not have the heart to bother his master while he was doing important stuff.

But even though he was not sure on what her real form was, Fang Lin was sure that he already a vague grasp on how Princess Lilliana’s ability works.

“According to Elissa, Princess Lilliana spent a year on close proximity with Elissa. It was only after a year that her powers were stolen. Does that mean that Princess Lilliana had to observe someone closely for a period of time?”

Fang Lin immediately realized that he must avoid Princess Lilliana at all costs if he wants to keep his cultivation safe. That was the only way that he can be sure of everything.

As Fang Lin finished on thinking these things, Elissa who already calmed down after her tirade stared at Fang Lin as she asked him,

“So now that you heard my story, do you plan on helping me?”

“Can you even regain your lost cultivation?” Fang Lin said in a low voice. “Maybe its time for you to just recultivate.”

“You think I have not done it?” Elissa shot up from her seat as she glared at Fang Lin. “I have tried, everyday, for the past 4 years, to sense the mana in the air, but I cannot! I cannot! I cannot..... huhuhuhu!”

Xue’er quickly hugged the sobbing Elissa as she comforted the masked girl. Xue’er gave Fang Lin an angry look as if she was saying,

“Look, you made her cry!”

“What the?” Fang Lin could only scratch his head as he saw the closeness between the two women. “That girl peeked on us and yet you are now comforting her? Women are really weird!” Of course he did not dare to say that thought out loud.

“Ok, I’m going now.” Fang Lin left Xue’er’s place as he headed towards the battle stage. He went back to his fatty form the second that he was out of the house. He shook his head as he heard some giggling sounds from Xue’er’s room.

“Now they’re having a girl talk....”

When Fang Lin arrived at the battle stage, the others were already there. The disciples who lost were watching with eager eyes while those who will still fight today all had determined expressions on their faces.

Their eyes swiveled at Fang Lin as they openly talked about him.

“Do you see that fatty? He was invited by the Princess last night, and yet he did not come! He was so rude!”

“Yes, he was plain rude! He did not even say that he could not come. What a scum!”

Fang Lin scratched his head as he knew that whatever he did, he will still be hated by others. If he came, it will be seen as if he was shameless and perverted. If he did not go, he will be seen as ungrateful and snobbish.

Fang Lin ignored those piercing looks as he sat beside Shi Poyun.

Shi Poyun patted his shoulders, as if he was comforting him in a manly way.

“I’m fine boy. Let me concentrate ok?” Fang Lin said as he gently pried off Shi Poyun’s hand.

“Ok...” Shi Poyun did not say anything more as he shrugged his shoulders.

Once everyone who was supposed to be there were there already, the proctor yesterday let out a slight cough as he said.

“The mechanics of today’s battles will just be similar to yesterday. But there is one catch.” The proctor drummed his fingers on his chin as he said,

“The battles today will only stop when there’s only 64 participants remaining!”

The crowd did not react badly to that, as they knew that something like this was bound to happen.

Seeing that the crowd was not surprised, the proctor smiled with satisfaction as he plunged his hands on the bowls.

He looked at the names he got, and his eyebrows suddenly rose up. Apparently, whoever he got there must be an interesting match-up.

“Fang Lin, Immortal Continent Branch vs. Princess Lilliana, God Continent Branch.”

“Woah! This is awesome!”

This time, the crowd was stirred into activity as they heard the names of the combatants. Who would not be excited?

Both of them were peerless genius of the two branches, and their monstrous fighting skills were already showcased to everyone.

This could have been a close fight, only if Fang Lin did not throw away the King Piece. Now, he had to fight pieceless against Princess Lilliana who had the Queen Piece.

But even with that disadvantage, the crowd was still hoping to see a blood boiling match.

“Fang Lin! Fang Lin! Fang Lin!”

“Princess! Princess! Princess!”

Chants echoed out from the crowd as they cheered for them. They knew that Fang Lin and Princess Lilliana were their unofficial representatives. Whoever wins will bring more honor for the winner’s respective branch.

Fang Lin and Princess Lilliana stared at each other from the ends of the stage. Princess Lilliana saw Fang Lin’s extremely wary look.

She smiled as she talked to him with her divine sense.

“So my former master Elissa already told you about what happened to her. You must be extremely loathing me now.”

“Hmph, you are not even denying it!” Fang Lin snarled on their divine sense connection. “But I already knew that you need to observe a person closely around a long period of time if you want to steal their cultivation!”

“It’s pretty obvious you were coveting mine, but do you think I will allow you to get near me after this? Hell no!” Fang Lin said victoriously as he gave Princess Lilliana a gloating look.

“Do you think so?” This was Princess Lilliana’s last reply on their divine sense conversation. Fang Lin immediately felt chills when he saw the current look on Princess Lilliana’s face.

The look on her face was extremely similar to the look that Wang Hao had when he was making his crazy but effective plans!

“Oh shi-” Before Fang Lin could interrupt Princess Lilliana on what she was about to do, the proctor said,

“Fight!”

“Oh, whatever!” Fang Lin decided to attack Princess Lilliana before she could even start moving.

Due to his unique body, Fang Lin can actually distribute on where he will place his 12 Essence Cores. He can put some on Fang Yu, and the remaining on his body. He can change this distribution easily anytime, providing higher combat power for both of his bodies.

Right now, all the 12 Essence Cores were with Fang Lin. Out of these 12, Fang Lin tapped in on the power of the Eon Rabbit.

His eyes suddenly looked ancient as he stared at Princes Lilliana. Before the Princess could start chanting her powerful spell, she felt herself slowing down.

Fang Lin used this opportunity to dash in front of her. He then let out a perfectly-placed punch on her stomach which blasted her away off the stage.

Fang Lin made it sure that his punch was not that strong to severely injure her.

“.....” The crowd was silenced as they saw Fang Lin defeating Princess Lilliana quickly. It was then followed by cheers of happiness from the Immortal Continent Branch and grumbles of complaint from the God Continent Branch.

“That fatty attacked before the Princess could launch her spell! That was how she was blasted off the stage! How unmanly!”

“Yes! This fatty’s a very rude person!”

This led to a shouting match between the two opposing camps.

But if the crowd was this boisterous, Fang Lin was feeling something different.

He looked at Princess Lilliana who was now back at the stage. She gave Fang Lin a slight smile as if she was not affected by the loss.

Fang Lin gritted his teeth as he said,

“Maybe its just me, but I felt that you have a way to fight back even with your situation earlier. But you did not do that. Instead, you let me hit you with my fist to blast you off the stage. It was like... you wanted me to win.”

“Because that’s what you are supposed to do. You must win.” Princess Lilliana said happily. “Now, my father will be appeased.”

“What do you mean by that?” Alarm bells started to ring on Fang Lin’s head as he realized the scheme he was worrying about had already come. “How is my win related to your father?”

“Oh, you will know in about 5 seconds” Princess Lilliana made a count-off sign on her fingers, which just served to increase Fang Lin’s anxiety.

“5”

“4”

Fang Lin then heard the footsteps of someone running quickly towards the battle stage.

“3”

“2”

“1”

“Everyone! You must see this!” The new arrival was nerdy-looking disciple holding a paper scroll. His body was trembling as he said,

“This scroll I have with me was a Royal Command decreed by the King of the Golden Tree Kingdom earlier this morning. Look at it everyone!”

He unfurled the scroll to let everyone see it. With their enhanced eyesight, they all saw what the Royal Decree was.

Fang Lin’s breathing stopped as he read the Royal Decree.

Princess Lilliana on the other hand covered her mouth with her hands as she giggled uncontrollably.

{GOLDEN TREE KINGDOM ROYAL DECREE}

[STARTING FROM THIS DAY ONWARDS, A PRACTITIONER OF THE SECOND STAGE WHO MANAGES TO DEFEAT PRINCESS LILLIANA IN A FAIR FIGHT WILL BE HER HUSBAND AND THE FUTURE KING OF THE GOLDEN TREE KINGDOM.]

[ANYONE WHO DISREGARDS THIS ROYAL DECREE IN ANYWAY WILL BE PUNISHED SEVERELY!!!]

“F**k!” Fang Lin cursed mentally as he realized what the implications of that Royal Decree meant.

The Royal Decree stated that anyone who defeats Princess Lilliana in a fight starting this day will be her husband!

And since Fang Lin just defeated Princess Lilliana, that meant he was now effectively about to be Princess Lilliana’s husband!

“This is the worst outcome!!!!”

“F**k!!!”
