Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor

Chapter 1689: Saint Potential

Chapter 1689: Saint Potential

"...After Wu Jing ascended, I was lost regarding what to do next. Everything I’ve dreamed of and planned for since that fateful day in the Spirit Road Trial had been accomplished," Wu Ming explained. "I knew I needed to start living for myself, but a part of me couldn’t immediately give up. So, I stayed in the lower dimension and cultivated two more Eternal Emperors for the Wu Clan before I came here, trying to pursue my Dao."

Wang Wei could not help but feel a sense of reminiscence. Memories of the young boy from a declining family risking his life to retrieve his ancestor’s journal flashed in his mind. Cause and effect is a truly wonderful thing. In an ancient era, Wu Clan Ancestor — Wu Ye — planted a tree in the form of the Body Rune Path. Then, countless years later, his descendant bore the fruit by finishing what he started and completing the Totem Dao.

However, this was just the tip of the iceberg in terms of this fruit’s ripening. The causal fluctuations were astronomical. Without Wu Ye, Wang Wei would never have created a way to create his Fate Puppeteer Physique. At the very least, he would have to wait until he was in the Void Shattering Realm to condense one, and it would have been an Acquired Physique — not one acknowledged by Heavenly Dao.

Without that physique, Wang Wei would not have acquired the ability to use divination without paying any price until he proved the Dao. And without that ability, so many things would have gone wrong in his life. The chances of him passing his Supreme Outlaw Trial would be drastically reduced, and even if he did, he would not have survived Di Tian’s wrath. And without Wu Ye, Tong Ruobing would also not be inspired to create the Acquired Source Rune Body and reach such a height.

On a smaller scale, his physique guaranteed his status as the sect’s Saint Son. Without it, many people would not have supported him as much as they did — especially in the early stages of his cultivation. Such an early advantage prevented him from being stuck in the sect’s politics, thus reducing the time and resources available.

’Everything circles back — what a perfect way to succinctly describe the Dao of Cause and Effect,’ Wang Wei thought.

"So, have you succeeded? Have you found your own pursuit?" Wang Wei asked.

"Not yet," Wu Ming sighed.

Wang Wei immediately understood why he was still in the Empyrean Realm. His spiritual attainment was not perfect yet, so his chances of surviving the Immemorial Tribulation were slim.

"Under normal circumstances, I would advise you to take your time, but this is a time of war, and strength is the only way to ensure your survival," Wang Wei uttered. "So, if you have any merit, I suggest you utilize the exchange list."

"That’s the current plan."

"Do you need some merit? I can loan you some." Wu Ming only needed a higher version of the Path Seeking Stone, which is not that expensive.

"No need," Wu Ming waved his hand. "Little Jing is very filial, and all the Wu Clan treat me well, so I’m not lacking merit."

Although Wang Wei knew he was bragging, he could fathom how high the latter’s status was in the clan. Wu Ming single-handedly raised the Wu Clan from a low-level family without even a Law Cultivator to a Paragon Lineage. His status is similar to Qiyuan and the others, but Wu Ming is probably even more revered, as he achieved it without being a peerless cultivator with a great background.

Wang Wei nodded.

"Did you know that Emperor Haiyuan is dead?"

"I heard he died in some foreign world," Wang Wei revealed. He did check on some of the famous Emperors from the lower dimension, but Emperor Haiyuan died in another world without much information.

"Fate can be a prick," Wu Ming sighed. "The bastard tricked my ancestor into a formation to kill him, and he died in a formation after entering an inheritance secret realm."

"Is he dead, dead, or not yet revived or in limbo?"

"I checked, and his Dao Imprint is gone, so he should be truly dead."

"Good riddance," Wang Wei uttered. He had no true ill-will toward Emperor Haiyuan. After all, without that selfish decision, Wang Wei would probably not be where he is now. However, he did despise the latter’s act of delaying the prosperity of Formation Dao for so long. From what Wang Wei knew, the latter died not long after ascending, so his death may have been a consequence of his actions back then.

"Indeed, it’s a shame I didn’t get the opportunity to kill this bastard myself," he sneered. There is nothing Wu Ming would love more than to rip off Emperor Haiyuan’s head. And if not for the fact that the latter did not have a grave, he would have found it and spit on it.

"Do you still have a connection with the upper world Origin Rune Palace?" Wang Wei asked. The lower dimension palace has now been renamed [Wu], but there is still a branch in the upper dimension as a part of the Grand Sect Alliance. Although they were in the middle to bottom among all the factions, the destiny of the [Formation Ancestor] from the lower dimension made them still valued to some extent.

"Hell no," Wu Ming sneered. "On the contrary, they want nothing else but to skin me alive."

"It would be weird if it weren’t the case," Wang Wei chuckled before raising the tea cup to his mouth. Wu Ming stole the Origin Rune Palace’s foundation and used it to nourish his clan. If not for Heavenly Dao’s restrictions, they would have already annihilated him in the lower dimension.

"Let’s not mention them," Wu Ming waved his hand. "How have you been doing? Hmm, I guess that’s a stupid question." How is the youngest Primal in history doing? The answer is obvious.

"Everyone sees the glory, but they never acknowledge the suffering needed to get there," Wang Wei commented.

"Truer words have never been spoken," Wu Ming laughed. He saw the reports on Wang Wei and understood all the perilous dangers he experienced to have his current achievements. Even for his situation, most of the Wu Clan members cannot fathom the danger of infiltrating an Emperor Lineage and destroying it from the inside. How many years did he spend planning and scheming? How many sleepless nights did he spend worried about being discovered? How many plots and trickery did he have to survive?

"By the way, was there something specifically you came here for?" Wang Wei asked. Had Wu Ming come alone, he wouldn’t have asked, but the presence of the Totem Origin Paragon had other implications.

"Yes, let’s get to business," Wu Ming nodded. "That Invisible Plague used in the war — is it your creation?"

"Why are you asking? No, how did you know in the first place?"

"Our clan paid a fortune to buy the information, and we even had to use all our connections," Wu Ming complained. "From what it’s revealed, is it really tiny, but invisible rune arrays?"

"You’re that interested?" Wang Wei smiled briefly before he paused. "Wait, you wouldn’t be planning..."

"That’s right," Wu Ming nodded. "Ever since that day, Little Jing had this feeling that the plague contained a great destiny. After finding out the details, he’s been planning on re-arranging his entire body and soul with these tiny runes."

Wang Wei frowned. The Array Virus, also known as the Quantum Array, was inspired by the Quantum Realm. If Wu Jing could create a body from such microscope particles smaller than his atoms, then he would most likely access his [Existence Blueprint]. However, this was not the truly precious aspect of this method. If done correctly, Wu Jing can turn himself into the cultivation version of a Quantum Lifeform, which is probably a Transcendent Body or Soul.

Wang Wei looked at him. "Boy, do you understand that your idea is a viable Saint Path?"

Wu Ming’s eyes lit up after hearing this, but he remained quiet. Meanwhile, Wu Jing was doing his best to control his emotions. "I had an inkling." Although the Wu Clan was a Paragon Lineage, they only have 3 Paragons, and their foundation is weak in comparison to even a lineage with one Paragon. Despite this, he still forcefully used most of the family’s fortune to buy the information about the plague. He was lucky he explained the truth to Wu Ming and gained the latter’s support; otherwise, the other two Paragons would not have accepted such a risky expenditure.

"Senior, we are prepared to pay whatever is necessary for the knowledge on that plague."

’Another potential Saint,’ Wang Wei thought, trying to control his emotion. He calmly sipped his tea before looking at Wu Ming. "You know what kind of person I am. So, what do you think my answer will be?"

"You’ll agree, but the condition is probably for our clan to join the Dao Opening Sect," Wu Ming explained. He observed how Wang Wei handled a talent like Dong Lifen, so he understood the latter’s mindset.
