Chapter 1650: Uncle & Nephew (Finale)
"That makes more sense," Li Xingwei nodded. He felt a lot less anxious now that he understood his situation. For a while, his mind got the best of him, and he feared that his talent was a result of being the pawn of an unknown, higher entity, and that one day he would have to repay for having such talent.
Wang Wei noticed his relief. One of the curses of being a Dao Overlord is overthinking or overanalyzing things, always fearing and preparing for the worst. As such, he did not blame his nephew for being paranoid. "You were participating in a competition with Buddhism, Taoism, the Origin Seal Continent, and Kong’s Academy, right? How did it go?"
"Of course, I won," Li Xingwei responded as if this were an obvious answer. "The final reward even allowed me to finally enter the Great Emperor Taboo Battle Realm."
"Well, you’re my nephew, so I should expect no less from you, but what characteristic did you add to your [Existence]?"
"[Absolute Control]," Li Xingwei explained. "I took inspiration from you, my second mother, and from Grand Uncle Wang Tian’s Emperor Scripture."
"That’s an interesting choice," Wang Wei commented. Yan Liling chose control because it perfectly suited her Alchemy Dao. As for Li Xingwei? "Do you want to ensure you have ultimate control over all your Daos?"
"Exactly. Greater Chaos is not an easy thing to wield, so I thought about how I could improve on that aspect. Fate is a great Dao for control, but I couldn’t rely entirely on it, so I thought about the origin of the [Force Control Skill] and how my second mother used it for her Alchemy Dao.
"Lastly, I also added the [Absolute] concept to ensure I never have to worry about losing control over my Dao."
"That was a wise choice," Wang Wei praised. "While we’re on the topic, let me ask: what characteristic did your father use for his Taboo Battle Realm?" He knew Li Jun had done so because of his conversation with Yan Liling, but he never asked for details. In fact, Li Jun was not the only person in the lower dimension who had succeeded in entering the taboo.
During his brief visit and upon seeing the history of his Heavenly Emperor Era, Wang Wei realized another one of his legacies in the lower dimension. After his ascension, many people went crazy searching for the reason behind his immense power. Eventually, news about the Taboo Battle Realms spread, and most Emperors in the new era would pursue this taboo.
"The [Judgment of Soul After Death]," Li Xingwei replied.
"Hmm? That’s an odd choice," Wang Wei commented. Li Jun’s Slaughter Dao contained a small aspect of death, but was it enough for him to engrave such a concept or characteristic into his [Existence]?
"His time as the Earth Emperor changed him much more than I think you anticipated," Li Xingwei explained. "He apparently grew a greater fondness and appreciation for life and death. The last time I saw him, he had become enlightened and was undergoing a drastic transformation. I wouldn’t be surprised if he has changed much the next time we see him."
"Drastic change, you say? Well, now, I look forward even more to seeing him," Wang Wei smiled.
Li Xingwei sighed deeply. "I truly envy your relationship with my father."
"Don’t you have someone you could call a confidant?"
"When I was a child, after hearing about you two, I tried making friends with some of the children in the sect, but one of them couldn’t get over my status. When I started cultivating, I tried to hide my status and make such deep bonds, but they all changed as soon as they knew who I was."
"It’s indeed a blessing in the cultivation world to find someone you can not only trust your back to, but also trust with your life," Wang Wei nodded. "But you don’t need to feel depressed that you haven’t found one yet. Look at my father — he didn’t meet Ji Lanfang until so late in his cultivation career. And he can be considered lucky since some people only found such a friend after living for countless yuan epochs."
"But some also never find one."
"Not with that attitude," Wang Wei said as he swiftly messed up his hair.
"Uncle, be serious," Li Xingwei said as he fixed his hair. "I’m really worried that my talent will always be a barrier to preventing me from making lasting friendships or finding true love." One of the primary reasons he rejected the Demon Girl and many other women was not just because he was not like his father, but because he realized these people only liked him for his potential and what benefit he could bring to them one day.
"Nephew, this is one of those issues that you’re so close to that you cannot see the entire picture."
"What do you mean?"
"Do you think your talent is the pinnacle of the Chaos Universe?" Wang Wei asked.
"Is it not? Besides you and maybe Empress Wu, can anyone truly rival me?"
Wang Wei shook his head. "Knowledge about Saints is now more common. Have you ever thought what the child of two Saints would be like? How horrifying their talent would be?"
"By Heaven’s Balls," Li Xingwei cursed.
"Watch your mouth."
"Sorry," he apologized. "But is such a thing allowed? Would Grand Dao really allow these people to reproduce?"
"They are Saints, meaning their very existence allows them to break the rules," Wang Wei explained. He knew they could reproduce; otherwise, the Ji Clan would not exist.
"Saint Offspring," Li Xingwei muttered, before an intense fighting spirit flashed in his eyes. As a Li Clan Descendant, battle and competition were in his blood. So, knowing the fact that such monsters exist in the world drastically increased his desire to improve.
Wang Wei suddenly chuckled as he recognized that raw fighting spirit. " And here I thought you inherited nothing from your father, cultivation-wise."
"My primary weapon is the spear, and he taught me. I also learned much of my Slaughter Dao from him," Li Xingwei said with slight embarrassment. However, he did not control his fighting spirit; instead, he redirected it. "While on the topic, there is something I’ve always wanted to do."
"Oh?"
"Fight the real you. I’ve defeated the imprint before you entered the Taboo Battle Realm, but as you know, that thing does not represent your full strength." An imprint can have between 80% and 95% of a person’s strength, but cannot fully replicate their owner’s power, as they lack a conscience and instead possess purely battle instincts.
"Ambitious, aren’t we? But alright."
Wang Wei used his Grandmist Wheel to create a new world and sealed his cultivation to the same level. Then, these two went all out, putting their pride on the line. Wang Wei was not about to disgrace himself in front of his favorite nephew (his only one), and Li Xingwei wanted nothing more than to surpass the man he idolized all his life.
However, midway through the fight, Wang Wei suddenly frowned. He observed the latter closely before continuing the battle for a few more minutes, then called a halt. "Nephew, what have you done?"
"What do you mean?"
"Your battle style, techniques, and even the way you strategize are all modeled after me."
Li Xingwei smiled while scratching his head. "Is it that obvious? My father and the ancestors told me to fix that, and I did. But apparently, not well enough."
Wang Wei sighed. "If that were just the issue, you would be lucky."
"What are you talking about?"
"Your Fate Dao has too much of my understanding," Wang Wei explained. "When you were cultivating my [Transcendent Fate Sutra], you absorbed too much of the uniqueness of my Dao. If not for your talent, you wouldn’t have even proved the Dao."
"No way?"
Wang Wei pointed his finger and showed him his [Existence Blueprint]. While Li Xingwei did not understand much, he could tell that there was a section of his Chaos Dao that was incongruent with the rest, and it was the one about Fate. So, his complexion turned ugly.
"What does that mean for me?"
"With your talent, the Paragon Path won’t stop you, but your transcendent path will be cut off."
"Will? Meaning, there is still hope?"
"You need to sever your realm, drop down to Tier 9, and rebuild your Emperor Dao. In fact, I would recommend you reincarnate to have a cleaner slate and ensure no hidden danger," Wang Wei explained.
Li Xingwei thought about it briefly before his eyes suddenly lit up: "Can you build me a reincarnation hall?"
"Excuse me?"
"I don’t want to experience the slow process of Samsara, nor do I want to be reborn in another family — even if it’s the Li Clan. So, could you build me a separate reincarnation to skip all these issues?"
"What an interesting idea," Wang Wei uttered as he caressed his chin. "I should be able to do it, but you’ll also need a womb to nurture your embryo after the reincarnation. I could put you back into your mother’s womb, but that would be too weird. In that case, let’s build an artificial womb."
Wang Wei was excited with the thought. Such an act will probably piss off the Yama King, but their relationship was already in the gutter, so who cares? He only hoped it wouldn’t affect his grandmother too much.
"Alright, let’s go."
Wang Wei did not waste any time before enlisting the sect and his wife to build this small, independent, and artificial reincarnation, along with the artificial embryo. However, this was just the beginning. He wanted to give his nephew a gift, so he engraved the Thirteen Transcendent Technique and its materials into the embryo to fuse with Li Xingwei during the gestation period. He also injected a great deal of [Perfection Aura] into the embryo.
In other words, as soon as he is born, Li Xingwei will have the essence of two transcendent foundation techniques, making his path to SS-Class Primal as smooth as it could ever be. Of course, Li Xingwei still needed to work for it. He needed to achieve the strength of an Eternal while a mortal, which is the requirement for the Thirteen Transcendent Technique. He also needed to cultivate the Perfection Technique, whichever version he chose.
