Chapter 1462: Flame God Armor
"By my order and my blood, submit the enemy with the utmost freedom—Feat of Strength!"
Space itself froze as the Blaze Sovereign executed his Feat of Strength again. The effects were completely different from before, however. I felt like a mountain was pressing down on me and preventing me from taking even a single step, much less dodge out of the way. The battle axe, Sacred Emperor’s Sun, struck my shoulder hard and unerringly—
Bang!
1,382,977!
It hurt like a bitch. As I staggered backward, I abruptly noticed that a new ring had appeared beneath the Blaze Sovereign’s feet. It was his fourth skill, Champion Arrival, and it increased his Attack and Defense by 40%. No wonder his Feat of Strength had dealt so much damage to me! A boss's 40% Attack increase was completely different to my 40% Attack increase. My base Attack was only 75k, but a boss's base Attack was much higher, and there were hidden stats and level penalties to consider as well. If I had to guess, his real Attack was at least 500k or higher, and the skill just boosted that number by another 200k Attack!
……
Bang!
While I slammed against a nearby wall, I pointed at the boss and used God Binding Art!
MISS!
Well, that wasn’t surprising. Asura God or not, the boss was Level 322. It made sense that God Binding Art would still miss him more often than not.
I was currently sitting at 50% HP, and I would die unless I fought the boss with everything I got. Truly, giving it one’s all was a fundamental law of the universe even in a game!
Thud!
I dashed toward the boss's side and dropped two Icy Cyclone Domains at its feet. At the same time, I fired Burning Blade Slash at its stomach, dealt over 1.4 million damage and regenerated 700k HP in return. Before the boss's next strike could reach me, I summoned both my apparition and my Phantom Wolf King to tank the attack. Against a boss this powerful, it was unrealistic to think that I could withstand all of its attacks alone. I would need some fodder to share the burden.
"You are courting death!"
The Blaze Sovereign cackled as he raised his axe and growled, "Whirlwind Slash!"
The boss spun at high speed as he charged toward me. It was a literal whirlwind of steel and death.
Again, a boss's Whirlwind Slash was nothing like a player’s Whirlwind Slash. It was absolutely deadlier in the Blaze Sovereign’s hands than it was in Li Chengfeng’s hands!
Chiang!
I slammed the Cyan Dragon Shield onto the ground and activated Heavenly River Transformation. Then, I assumed a Guard stance and waited for the inevitable. The Blaze Sovereign’s Whirlwind Slash was so fast that my eyes nearly couldn’t keep up with it. Parrying it wasn’t an impossible feat, but it was highly improbable.
The boss's fiery axe slammed against my shield again and again, rocking my arms to the point where it felt like they might break at any moment. Even after I had slammed the Xuanyuan Sword to the ground, the blow still sent me skidding at least dozens of meters away from the boss. Its Attack was just too high right now!
That was just the first hit of Whirlwind Slash, and there were at least a dozen more hits to come. I waited until my HP was about to hit rock bottom before healing myself with Tenacity of the Dead and Dragon Bloodboil. Not only that, I moved my shield out of the way, and thrust the Xuanyuan Sword straight into the Blaze Sovereign’s neck. Universe Break dealt a massive amount of damage—4,723,824!
Good, I had triggered the septuple damage effect of my weapon and regained 50% of my HP in one go!
Next, I approached the boss from the sky and grabbed his weapon, the Sacred Emperor’s Sun with Flying Dragon Hands. It successfully disarmed the boss!
Swhoosh!
The battle axe the Blaze Sovereign was wielding vanished like it was never there. He struck my Cyan Dragon Shield with a Feat of Strength, but—
Bang!
492,727!
I smiled. As expected, the boss's offensive power was greatly diminished without his axe. I mustn’t waste these precious 15 seconds!
I turned around and made both the Phantom Wolf King and my apparition attack with everything they had. Purgatory Storm, Claw of the Storm, Burning Blade Slash and more skills exploded all around the boss. Everyone knew the best time to kick an enemy was when they were down, and bosses? Even more so!
For a time, I could only hear the sound of my weapon clanging against the boss's armor non-stop. Many times, the Xuanyuan Sword gave me face and triggered its septuple damage effect in these short 15 seconds and propelled my DPS to new heights. In less than 5 minutes, the Sovereign Rank boss had lost over 40% of his HP.
Moreover, I had come up with a battle plan for this boss fight. During the 15 seconds of disarm, I would go all out against him because there was no threat to my life. When the boss wasn’t disarmed, I would use the Phantom Wolf King to block its movement while me and my apparition attacked from a safe distance using our sword auras. If I failed to control the boss for whatever reason, I would use Mad God Lunge to stun him and reset. It was a simple but very safe battle plan.
By the time the Blaze Sovereign’s HP dropped to less than 5%, I had only used seven Rank 13 potions in total. One thing I was really glad about in this boss fight was that the Blaze Sovereign’s lackeys never tried to intervene. There were at least a thousand Eldritch Night Watchmen around the area, and it would’ve been really bad if they all attacked me at once.
……
Swhoosh!
My Xuanyuan Sword trembled joyously as it triggered its septuple damage effect twice. Not only that, the second hit was a critical. It was most delightful to see two humongous damage numbers popping above the boss's head—
3,998,715!
9,082,514!
The Blaze Sovereign, guardian of the first floor of the Purgatory lost his final chunk of HP to my last attacks. As he let out a death groan and collapsed to his knees, he glared at me before roaring in anger, "You may have killed me, boy, but you will never be able to reach the seventh floor! Lord Lin Na will ground your body to dust and scatter the ashes across the Purgatory when he hears of this!"
I retorted, "Oh yeah? It so happens that I cannot wait for him to meet me right now! Rest in peace, you piece of shit. Starting now, there will be no guardian of the Undying Realm!"
My sword flashed across his neck, and the Blaze Sovereign’s head sailed across the air. Just like that, the guardian boss of the first floor of the Purgatory died and dropped a ton of equipment, items and more. Unlike normal though, I didn’t pick them up in a hurry. After all, I was literally the only player in the Purgatory. Not even a king of assassins like Farewell Song would be able to steal a single magic stone from me.
Thud…
I dropped on my butt and just breathed for a moment. The boss fight might have lasted only ten or so minutes, but controlling three characters at once took a lot out of me. Moreover, after I had ascended to become a god, I felt like I could sense every disturbance in the air and every fluctuation in the enemy’s aura. It was the power of my Domain. It wasn’t without its cost, however. Without sufficient skill, it was impossible to exert one’s Domain to its maximum capacity. The amount of stimuli was overwhelming, and took a lot of brain power to process. As soon as the battle was over I felt a sense of fatigue wash over me. I could fall asleep at any moment.
It wasn’t all bad, however. The boss loot would surely rejuvenate my tired and lonely soul.
As usual, I went through the equipment first. There was a fiery metal armor, a ring, and a fiery battle axe, but I had a feeling that they were all god-tier pieces of equipment. The axe especially was most likely the legendary Sacred Emperor’s Sun itself!
First, I picked up the fiery red metal armor. I waved a hand across its surface to bring up its stat screen.

……
I sucked in a deep breath. Looks like we’re off to a good start! Although it was only a Lower Divine Armament, it was still a Divine Armament, and its level was high enough that its stats were at the same level as the Guardian Dragon Armor. The difference between the two armor was that the Flame God Armor was offense-oriented because it had a 3% chance to trigger a special attack, and my Guardian Dragon Armor was defense-oriented because it converted 10% of the damage received into HP. Personally, I preferred the Guardian Dragon Armor more because surviving until the end was the royal road in Heavenblessed.
I put the Flame God Armor into my bag and checked out the fiery battle axe next. The moment I grabbed its pole, I immediately felt a scorching energy flowing into my veins. It was clearly a Divine Armament. I brought up its stat screen and was stunned by what I saw—

Level Requirement: 245
Reputation Requirement: 1,500,000
……
I shuddered. Not only was the Sun a Middle Divine Armament, its stats were absolutely OP as well!
I hurriedly brought up the Weapon Ranking. My Xuanyuan Sword was of course in the first place, and the runner-up was Lin Yixin’s Wind Severing Sword. Gui Guzi’s unevolved Ghostblade Halberd was at the third place, Beiming’s Xuanming Bow was at the sixth, Pure Love’s Seven-string Yaoqin was at the seventh, and the Fire God Scepter was at the eighth. Almost all of the top weapons on the Weapon Ranking belonged to the Twelve Divine Armaments, but the Sun still managed to place fourth despite the competition it faced. Excluding the absolutely OP Xuanyuan Sword, Wind Severing Sword and Ghostblade Halberd, this axe was greater than most unevolved versions of Twelve Divine Armaments and without a doubt the strongest normal Divine Armament in the game!
I could already see Li Chengfeng, High Fighting Spirits, Chaos Moon, Eighteen Steeds of You and Yun and more rolling the dice and competing against each other. On second thought, Li Chengfeng and Chaos Moon probably wouldn’t be rolling for this weapon despite its amazing stats. Axes were too unwieldy for technician-style players like them. This meant that the lucky bastard High Fighting Spirits was most likely going to get this weapon—provided I don’t die in the Purgatory and drop it, of course!
1. T/N: yeah, don’t ask me why it’s Sacred Emperor’s Sun here when its name is Sun. I think the author’s just lazy ☜
