Chapter 1692: East Sea Region, Chi Family

The Mythical Spirit Divine Continent was a vast land that far exceeded the likes of the East Divine Continent. It was a little different from the other inner divine continents though. For one, more than half of the spirit beast races called it their home, including the likes of the Dragon and Phoenix Races. The number of human powers couldn't be underestimated, but the spirit beasts had much deeper foundations. If the two sides were to come together, the total strength of the continent would reach such a terrifying level that even the Heavenly Origin Divine Continent couldn't compare.

The Chi family was located in the Mythical Spirit Divine Continent's East Sea Region, a territory under the purview of the Imperial Beast Hall. If one headed further north and crossed the vast sea, they would enter the territories of the spirit beasts. That place was an endless land dotted with hundreds of thousands of mountains. The Dragon Race's homeland was somewhere in there. That was Li Luo's destination, and he would conveniently pass right by Chi Chan's home on the way.

After Li Luo entered the Mythical Spirit Divine Continent, it took exactly a month to reach the East Sea Region. He thought to himself, "The Mythical Spirit Divine Continent was able to form four powerful alliances. This land is truly home to a lot of experts."

One of the federations was the Imperial Beast Tamer's Alliance, with the Imperial Beast Hall at its helm. It was located in the northern region and was made up of numerous peak powers and experts. Dozens of Kings stood at the top of the alliance, three of which were Triple Crowned Kings. The Imperial Beast Tamer's Alliance's leader was the Imperial Beast Hall's Hall Master Lin Miao, one of the three Triple Crowned Kings.

"Lin Miao..." Li Luo muttered. He had heard from the Bloodline of Heavenly Emperor Li's Lineage Chiefs that they had a grudge with the Imperial Beast Hall. This was likely related to their ancestors.

The Bloodline of Heavenly Emperor Qin had invited the Imperial Beast Hall's Lin Miao to the World's End River Region, as a form of counterbalancing the Lineage Chiefs of the Bloodline of Heavenly Emperor Li. This had prevented the other Lineage Chiefs from noticing that Li Jingzhe had been in danger. Thus, in a way, Lin Miao had sown the seeds of karma with Li Luo.

"Li Luo, the Chi family's headquarters are located in East Sea Chi City. Based on the news I've heard, they've invited countless powers to be present and bear witness. It looks as though the selection for the leader of the family will start soon," Chi Chan said.

The Chi family was going to hold an event called the Great Meeting, where their ancestor would carry out the inheritance ceremony. Once that was completed, Chi Li would become the true Patriarch.

Li Luo nodded. "There's no rush. Once everyone is gathered, we can take that opportunity to resolve everything cleanly. That will save us the trouble of having to come back again."

Chi Chan's long eyelashes fluttered as she blinked. Li Luo clearly had no intention of resolving everything secretly. He was going to use the most direct and barbaric means possible to seize the position of family head, before all the powers of the East Sea Region. She knew that he was planning to assert himself for her benefit. Her connections with the family were shallow, so she didn't possess any support from them. Since that was the case, he would oppress everyone and force them to accept the situation he desired. This sort of approach was truly tyrannical.

A smile suddenly bloomed on her face.

"What are you smiling at?" Li Luo asked in confusion.

"I was just thinking back to when you loved to keep a low profile while doing good deeds in your school days," Chi Chan responded. It was impossible not to mention how much he had changed.

"I couldn't even protect House Luolan at that point. Sister Qing'e and I were struggling for our lives, so how could I have acted wantonly?" Li Luo shrugged and righteously continued, "When I didn't have strength, I naturally had to hide from the limelight. But things are different now—my enemies have no choice but to swallow their anger before me."

Why was he so inconspicuous in the past? Wasn't he merely preparing for the moment when he could truly reveal his full power in front of others and surpass them all in a single leap?

Chi Chan simply nodded in agreement and smiled. What else could she say when her student had become a mountain she could lean on? After all, she understood that Li Luo now had the strength to act arrogantly. He was here alone, but considering the power he represented, all of the federations on the Mythical Spirit Divine Continent had to remain wary of him.

The entire city was decorated with lights, filled with the hustle and bustle of life. The Chi family possessed a deep foundation in the East Sea Region, and all of the powers in the vicinity treated them with respect. The main reason was because the current ancestor had reached the Dual Crowned King Stage and established a name for himself. It was a pity that this exceptional leader had reached the end of the line. During the Great Meeting, he would finally become a relic of the past.

The only regrettable part was that the replacement, Chi Li, had just reached the Single Crowned King Stage half a year ago. Thus, the power and influence of the Chi family would likely decline.

A gigantic ancestral hall stood in the center of Chi City. There was a burning censer outside the entrance, letting out smoke that filled the air. At this time, the square was already filled with distinguished guests. The numerous leaders of the nearby powers had arrived, revealing the extent of the influence the Chi family held.

There were numerous gazes directed towards the front of the ancestral hall. A high seat was placed there, where an elderly man sat. At this time, a commotion broke out from in the square. A man walked up the steps to the ancestral hall with extraordinary momentum, accompanied by the congratulations of countless individuals. Chi Wenwu's expression didn't change as he studied Chi Li. With his experienced eyes, how could he not have sensed Chi Li's avaricious and ambitious gaze? The latter probably couldn't wait for him to pass.

If not for the fact that the inheritance ceremony had to be conducted in a dignified and upfront manner, Chi Wenwu suspected that this once respectful descendant would have taken the initiative to smother him in the dark, ending his life secretly and cleanly before using his corpse for his own benefits. The only difference was that these individuals seemed a little restrained and lowly. Those were the people of the side branch family.

A brutal and merciless smile surfaced on his face as he turned his head to inform one of the aides beside him, "Get a few young girls from the branch family to come over tonight. I have to properly celebrate after such a wonderful day."

The aide nodded upon receiving the instruction. Chi Li then tidied up his robes and lightly lifted his hand. At the same time, the chime of a bell rang through the square. The Chi family's Great Meeting had officially started.

Before the crowd's eyes, Chi Li went through a series of complicated procedures before finally making his way to the center of the square, in front of a humongous censer that was belching green smoke. He held a large stick of incense in his hand and was on the verge of placing it in the censer. Doing so would complete the ceremony and he would take over as Patriarch.

However, as he grinned and took that final step forward, energy rumbled thunderously in the sky above the square. A moment later, a pillar of light pierced through the sky, landing on the gigantic bell. A resounding explosion echoed out, smashing the bell into tiny fragments before everyone's shocked eyes. Chi Li's expression froze as his rage seethed like a violent river surging during a flood.

"Who dares to ruin my good fortune?!" he bellowed with a voice filled with killing intent.

The numerous leaders present looked shellshocked as well. As they looked at the shattered remains of the bell, the energy started to dissipate and a figure gradually revealed herself. It was a slender lady, filled with poise and grace.

Chi Li glared at the newcomer. Even though she was wearing a veil, he immediately recognized her. His expression turned feral as he roared, "Chi Chan! It's actually that slu-"

However, before he could finish his sentence, he saw an azure wind condense beside Chi Chan, eventually transforming into a tall young man with a handsome face. This man's expression was indifferent and his eyes were like deep pools.

Staring at Chi Li, the handsome man's voice reverberated throughout the square. "I object to your ascension as Patriarch."
