"What did you say?" Gewen tugged Kira's sleeve and asked her seriously, "The king is away to Myreen?"
Now, he remembered. Myreen was the name of the kingdom which Emmelyn wanted to find.. She even sent Edgar to Summeria to look for information about the Leoraleis and their kingdom, Myreen.
So, did King Loriel go there with Emmelyn?
"You have ears, don't you?" Kira asked back. "That's what I said. The king went there with my friend, so I am staying here until they return. I am trying to keep myself busy while they are away. By the way... how did you know about Myreen?"
Suddenly, a crazy thought came to Gewen. All these coincidences were too uncanny.
"My friend came here to look for Myreen," Gewen muttered his reply. "She said so in her letter."
Kira looked at Gewen in confusion. She started to think that Gewen's friend seemed very similar to Emmelyn. Was there any such coincidence?
"What's your friend's name?" Kira demanded. "Tell me."
Gewen cleared his throat. "Her name is Emmelyn Rosehill. What about your friend? What's her name?"
Kira's eyes immediately bulged when she heard Emmelyn's name came out of Gewen's mouth. It was such a coincidence! What were the odds she would bump into Emmelyn's friend from back home and even spent time for hours dragging six wolves with him together??
"Huh? You know Emmelyn??" she asked.
This confirmed to Gewen that this girl before him and Emmelyn were truly friends.
Gosh... suddenly, he felt so lucky. He threw a fist into the air and laughed out loud. All his sacrifice and suffering now seemed to be worth it.
The man's unexpected action made Kira think Gewen had lost his mind.
"Hey... what are you doing?" Kira asked Gewen.
"I came here for Emmelyn..." Finally, Gewen composed himself and told Kira seriously. "I think we've been talking about the same person all along. Emmelyn is my friend's wife. There was a misunderstanding between them and so he sent me to talk to Emmelyn and bring her home. He and their daughter missed her so much."
It took Kira a few moments to comprehend what Gewen was saying. It was so hard to believe that not long after Edgar left Castilse, someone from Draec had come here to get Emmelyn back.
Wasn't Draec months away from Castilse? How did Gewen get here was the first question that came to Kira's mind. This was too suspicious.
So, she didn't immediately buy what Gewen told her. The pirate princess crossed her arms on her chest and stared at Gewen menacingly. "Who are you?"
Her response made Gewen feel worried. Wasn't Kira really Emmelyn's friend? Why was she so hostile toward him? Did Emmelyn tell Kira bad things about her husband and his friends from back home?
"I already told you I'm Lady Emmelyn's friend. Well... actually I'm her husband's best friend. He sent me here to talk to Emmelyn," Gewen replied.
"You are lying! Draec is five months away from here. How did you know she was here?"
"Edgar told us. He reached Draec last month and brought news of what happened," Gewen explained.
At the mention of Edgar's name, Kira's eyes lit up. She was still acting hostile, but her voice was gentle when she asked about Edgar. "Is Edgar okay? Did he arrive well?"
The contrast of tones Kira used when she accused him of lying and called him silly and when she asked about Edgar's news made Gewen feel annoyed.
Initially, he thought Kira treated everyone the same, with nonchalance and a slightly mocking attitude. He was okay with that. Kira was a pirate who must not know proper manners.
However, he now realized that Kira only did it to him. She could treat other people well. Look at the faint smile on her face and her gentle voice when she uttered Edgar's name with her mouth.
Gewen felt more and more annoyed as he thought about this. How could Kira think highly of Edgar? He, Gewen Friedrich Athibaud was more handsome than Edgar Chaucer. Much, much more handsome.
When they were together, women always chose him over Edgar. But why did this woman before him treated him so lowly and Edgar too highly???
It's not fair.
"He is okay." Gewen pursed his lips. "The journey almost killed him, so my friend, Mars, told him to rest and send me back with the dragon. That's how I can reach Castilse fast."
"Oh... poor Edgar," Kira clicked her tongue. Her expression was now filled with sympathy. "I can imagine, the journey must be arduous and so tiring."
Gosh... Gewen had never felt this annoyed all his life.
He was never really attracted to a woman before, but this one time when a woman was blessed to be the object of his sincere affection, she didn't return his feelings?
"I also took the same journey, for your information, but look, I am not dying," Gewen snapped. "That means I'm physically stronger than him."
"So?" Kira snapped back. "Do you want me to clap and praise you oh, the mighty one?"
She narrowed her eyes and stepped closer to Gewen, until their front bodies almost touched each other. Gewen didn't know why his heart started to beat so fast. He never felt this nervous before any woman.
This reminded him of his first time with Lady Cocker when he was fourteen. He was... nervous and giddy.

From the author:
Finally! Gewen put two and two together. It's good to know that there is hope for Gewen.. lol.
PS: Sorry, I accidentally changed the highest tier privilege last night and it became 40 advanced chapters from regular. That means I had to add 2 chapters before this tier becomes accessible. Sorry about that. I was swamped and didn't realize it until an hour ago.
