“Are the contents of your reports true?” the fragrant man asked. He had a cold and stern expression on his face.

Ning Shu and Wen Xing nodded repeatedly.

The man sighed imperceptibly and rubbed his brow. “I’ll stay here for a while to observe.”

“If there’s really an issue with the world, one of you might have to stay behind. Which of you is willing to do so?” he asked, looking at Ning Shu and Wen Xing.

Ning Shu looked away toward the sky and nudged Wen Xing. “He’s willing.”

She really had no camaraderie. None at all!

Wen Xing silently took a step back. “My girlfriend is still waiting for me to return.”

“Didn’t you break up?” Ning Shu asked in surprise.

“No. I still love her,” Wen Xing said passionately. “Mountains may crumble, the heavens may split. Even then, I wouldn’t part with her.”

The fragrant man took off his military cap and expressionlessly stared at Ning Shu and Wen Xing.

“This can be discussed later, but if the world really starts to fall apart, a task-taker might be needed to control the situation.”

Then, he added, “There will definitely be benefits.”

Ning Shu and Wen Xing stared at him. What benefits? Spit it out already!

“Whoever stays behind will be given this world.”

“You’ll become a task-taker who has constructed a world,” the man said.

Given a whole world? Ning Shu was startled by how generous this deal was.

But then she realized that whether or not this world could even survive was a question. Giving it away was just a way to bind the task-taker to it.

It was just a way to force them to constantly monitor the world.

Still, having a world of her own was equivalent to having constructed a world.

If she agreed, she wouldn’t have to search for world origins anymore. She could go straight to being a task-taker who owned a world.

She clasped her hands behind her back and pinched herself to calm down.

There was no such thing as a free lunch. If she accepted, all her time would be tied up in maintaining this world. Since it would be her world, she’d have to ensure it wouldn’t collapse.

Wen Xing turned his head and met Ning Shu’s gaze. His breathing had become a little ragged.

A plethora of thoughts flashed through Ning Shu’s mind, and eventually, she took a step back. “I want to leave.”

It wasn’t just about the state of this world. What shocked Ning Shu was that the fragrant man could even promise a world to a task-taker.

This was unnerving, and Ning Shu didn’t want to spend her time and effort on a world that might end up collapsing.

She could construct her own world slowly.

The fragrant man raised his eyebrows and looked at Wen Xing. “So, will you stay?”

Wen Xing hesitated. He weighed the pros and cons in his mind.

Constructing a world as a task-taker was incredibly difficult, and gaining a world would be a huge leap forward.

“Can I leave now?” Ning Shu asked the fragrant man.

He nodded indifferently.

Ning Shu turned to Wen Xing and said, “Maybe this world will successfully evolve. It’s worth a try.”

After all, it was practically impossible to construct a world.

It was hard enough to find a suitable foundation and the required world origins. Fulfilling even one of those two requirements required immense luck. However, both were indispensable to the process.

The fragrant man gave Ning Shu a sidelong glance. He asked, “Who told you that this plane will evolve?”

Bluntly, Ning Shu replied, “I just guessed.”
