Death… And Me

Chapter 3911: Ongoing Fall

Chapter 3911: Ongoing Fall

Roan put his CD away, looking into the horizon where battles happened nonstop. Even if there was no way to stop the invaders, it didn’t mean people didn’t fight. He had been sent to the frontlines pretty early for the same reason as the other around his level: to gain experience and help defend the Green Cluster.

However, the chain of command was pretty much overwhelmed at the moment. The few that were still here were just fighting small battles for their own sake or just trying to survive.

Roan turned around, looking at Tanxan, who came with him. They were both part of the Amefis Treasure Hall, after all. "We did enough already. Let’s go back to the base."

Even though the invasion was enormous, it would still take a very long time until everyone moved further inside the Green Cluster’s Inner Continents, at least a few years.

Tanxan jumped on Roan’s shoulder, and the two flew back, leaving that battlefield behind. There was a specific goal they had to achieve before retreating, and with their actual strength, it wasn’t too hard to accomplish.

Back in the main base, away from the front lines, Roan went to the installations used by his Amefis Treasure Hall. One Elemental Space Realm Expert was in command of this place, which was also the one Roan went to report to. Normally, he wouldn’t have had the time to deal with each person individually since the Treasure Hall had thousands of members.

However, due to the conditions of this war, many were killed already, and few remained. Now Dergo did have time to speak with each member, a few tens remaining.

"Roan, Tanxan..." His name was Dergo, one of the top investors of the Treasure Hall. "You came back pretty fast again. Give me your CD so I can confirm your kills."

The two passed the CDs over, and Dergo was able to quickly verify they cleared their objectives. "Yes, it is correct. You can take it back."

Roan and Tanxan put the CDs away, but they didn’t leave. "Senior Dergo, you should have noticed there isn’t much of a point in defending anymore, right? Quite a few of the top powers of the Green Cluster have already run away, and a few others simply surrendered. Due to the size of the Green Cluster, it will take a few years until the entire alliance is taken down, but there is no turning back anymore."

"What do you want to say?" Dergo looked at him.

Roan and Tanxan spoke seriously. "We won’t be staying here any longer if this continues. Why exactly are we still fighting? The Amefis Treasure Hall should just take everything it can and leave this place."

Dergo didn’t speak for a few seconds, then shook his head. "The damage is too big. Our backs have been marked, and if we attempt to leave, we will be taken down. The Amefis Treasure Hall is too rich, after all. There are way too many traitors."

Roan pondered a bit, asking. "Could it be we are also defecting to the other side? Is that why the Amefis Treasure Hall hasn’t attempted to flee yet?"

Dergo didn’t answer Roan’s question, but his silence spoke louder than words.

Roan then turned around, preparing to leave, but Dergo stopped him, saying. "You two have done enough already. I’ll give you a pass to teleport back to the Panpasin Continent. You won’t be implicated."

Roan and Tanxan saw the pass appearing in their CDs, and they nodded. The Amefis Treasure Hall was a big power in the Surute Region of the Panpasin Continent. But when you take the entire Green Cluster into consideration, it was truly nothing but a speck of sand. Nonetheless, it had tens of thousands of members.

In the past few weeks, over 30% of them had died in the battles, and many more would follow. Roan’s group, under Dergo’s command, could be said to be one of the worst ones. They were truly sent to the very front and died like flies relatively fast.

Yet now, Roan and Tanxan understood why. The Amefis would be defecting to the other side in the end, like many others. However, this defection had many requirements, and most likely, the Amefis Treasure Hall couldn’t take everyone with them. They had to reduce their numbers. Only the best ones would be taken away, like it just happened to Roan and Tanxan here. The pass back to the Panpasin Continent was simply a confirmation of Roan and Tanxan’s special status. The two of them would not be sent to battle anymore. Well, they wouldn’t stay there either.

Roan didn’t waste time there and went to the closet teleport formation. Thanks to the immense amount of Divine Energy and even Divine Origin Energy, the Long-Distance Teleport Formations didn’t even require Divine Stones; merely the environmental energy was sufficient for them. Only formations starting from Super Long Distance ones needed extra energy from Divine Stones.

---

Back in the Panpasin Continent, Roan and Tanxan didn’t stay in the Amefis Treasure Hall for long. They left that same day without trying to hide or anything, and no one complained. The top brass of the Amefis Treasure Hall had many other things to consider than just two young members of their hall. Sure, those two were considered top geniuses for the future of the hall, but in the end, they were just two. There wouldn’t really be a future for the Panpasin Continent anymore anyway.

Once Roan and Tanxan were certain they weren’t being watched, they entered the Dimensional Realm.

Inside, Rean, Kentucky, Celis, and everyone else were already gathered. Wisfreya was there too, her expression terrible.

"Took you long enough," Rean commented, not that he minded it much.

Roan crossed his arms as Tanxan jumped to the side. "Wisfreya, have you come to terms? I believe your Verjansy Country Continent Government is already preparing to flee. What about you?"

Wisfreya narrowed her eyes. Indeed, it was just like Roan said. Wisfreya was close to President Bugel, and he made her privy to some inside information due to that, although she had to sign a Soul Binding Contract to hear the information.

Well, the contract wasn’t of much use since Rean took care of it the moment Wisfreya returned to him. "How could they give up so easily? President Bugel said that they are in contact with the experts of the Storm Grounds Alliance, and they are preparing to surrender the moment the war reaches this place, although it should take a year or two due to our distance from the borders."

Roan was a little bit surprised. "Are you saying the higher-ups won’t be fleeing, but have an arrangement that will spare the country? That President Bugel of yours isn’t too bad. He is guaranteeing the survival of most of his country’s citizens. Well, whether the enemy will really spare them or not is yet to be seen, though. You won’t know until they get here."

Rean joined the conversation. "Bugel understands that, and that’s why he arranged a way out for Wisfreya and quite a few others of his countrymen. He is even preparing the Divine Stones to activate the Super Long-Distance Teleport Formation. He intends to send Wisfreya away from this calamity and only call her back once everything is over."

"That’s convenient," Roan nodded. "We are leaving anyway. The only reason we waited so long was so she could understand there was truly no way to prevent it anymore. What about you and Foliana? You two are also part of the Verjansy Country."

Foliana answered that. "We are kind of seen as Wisfreya’s close friends and her subordinates. So everything was prepared for us to go with her and the rest."

"What about you?" Rean asked Roan.

"I left the Treasure Hall. They likely will want to keep me and Tanxan for the future, but they aren’t planning to send us away. So, I simply left by myself, and so did Tanxan. We might as well join you by simply staying in the Dimensional Realm."

Kentucky couldn’t help but complain. "So much work for nothing. Even my fan club is collapsing. Did you know that Zangeshu and I managed to move to the central area of the Sea Breeze Sect? And they said they would never have men there. Sigh... to see such a dream dying so fast... At least I managed to do as you said, warning all the girls through the Werdlem Network when the news exploded. If they follow my instructions, maybe many of them will manage to survive."

Roan couldn’t care less about Kentucky’s Fan Club. "What about you, Celis?"

Celis joined the Pengen Beast Alliance and was still part of it in theory. "There isn’t much to be said. Even though Demon Beasts don’t act together very often, they had to stop for a moment to consider their options. Well, most simply don’t want to abandon their territories and will defend them to the bitter end. The few who don’t are already preparing to leave. From the looks of it, the alliance will not exist anymore by the time the outsiders arrive."

Roan had no more questions. "Everything is happening as expected. Seems like the only chance of the Green Cluster’s Survival really didn’t materialize. So be it. Rean, Wisfreya, and Foliana will use the teleport formation of the Verjansy Country. The rest of us will stay in the Dimensional Realm. That’s all. Make sure you are all ready to move out."
