Death… And Me

Chapter 3804: Lotiy

Chapter 3804: Lotiy

Before reaching the Umbral Field, Roan had spent months behind the fabric of space, wandering and trying to find a way out. It goes without saying that he travelled huge distances there, so it was simply impossible to tell where he had first appeared.

That said, after opening a Spatial Gate, no one would be able to tell exactly where the twins would come out. They might literally appear halfway to the other side of the Underworld. The only guarantee was that they would still be in the Underworld, as even the Fabric of Space has the division between the usual four realms of a Universe, like Heaven, Mortal World, Divine Realm, and so on.

*Crack, crack, crack...*

A Spatial Gate appeared deep underground, consuming all the dirt, rocks, and other debris in its surroundings. But as all that debris disappeared, Rean, Roan, and Kentucky shot out, Kentucky quickly turning around and closing the Spatial Gate perfectly.

"We are out. What are the chances of that guy finding where we arrived?" Roan turned to Rean and Kentucky, the few bits of Light Element in the environment rushing at him as he slowly healed his body. Even if it was the underworld, Light Element still existed, albeit in small quantities.

Rean looked at the point where the Spatial Gate closed, shaking his head. "Zangeshu, Tanxan, and I did the best we could with those runes. If that guy still finds it out, then there isn’t much we can do. The only Celestial Realm Expert we know is Rifindio, and I’ve never had the chance to test his powers before we left F956."

"Will Xian be fine?" Kentucky couldn’t help but ask.

Of course, neither Rean nor Roan had an answer. "If there is a chance, it is the fact that he is only at Level One. The Umbras in that area would have no use for him whatsoever. His Shadow/Emotional Energy quality is too low to provide any improvements. Maybe that Celestial Realm guy will ignore him, too, because of his level. At least, let’s hope that’s the case."

Rean turned his head away from where they came, looking above. Everything around was pitch black, and they were using their Divine Sense to feel the environment. Then, he gathered a little of the Light Element of the surroundings and created a sphere of light. "It is truly random, isn’t it?"

"We are probably very, very deep underground," Roan commented. "Even the Dark Element is quite impaired here. We will have to dig our way up."

Rean pondered a bit. "We can now open normal Spatial Gates without worrying about being stuck behind the Fabric of Space. Should we give it a try?"

"No," Kentucky was the one to answer. "We won’t be blocked, and if we have in mind where our destination is, we can indeed open a Spatial Gate and get there pretty fast. However, it is still a Spatial Gate, which means we will have those mindless Umbras flooding out the moment we open one. The only reason there were none leaving from my Spatial-Gate now was because I opened it inside the Umbral Field."

Roan agreed with Kentucky. "We don’t know if the Light of the Provider Religion has some way to detect the appearance of Umbras outside. Considering we just fled from that Celestial Realm guy, they might connect the dots. At least for the moment, it is not worth it."

Rean shrugged, looking above again. "I guess we can only dig our way up, indeed."

And so... that’s exactly what they did.

Although Devil Cities were rarer than humanoid ones, they still existed in large numbers if you consider the entire Underworld Extension. The Devil City of Lotiy was one of such cities, and quite a big one by the Underworld Standards.

Today was a day like any other. The city was crowded with devils going in and out, and many things were happening at all times. Due to its size, this city was pretty much a hub for the many other smaller cities in this territory. Of course, even though we said nearby, each of those smaller cities in the surroundings was actually months or even years away.

It wasn’t a big deal, though. With how the Banishing Light worked, travelling between these cities wasn’t that dangerous as long as your cultivation wasn’t too small. Pretty much anyone in the Soul Transformation Realm and above would be able to take the trip to Lotiy. You would never find a Devil attacking another.

It was late that day when, suddenly, the ground moved in an alley in a corner of that city. There were a few devils there, looking at it with puzzled expressions. Using their Divine Senses, they couldn’t see anything underground, so why was the ground moving?

But it was then that the ground caved, and from inside, four ’devils’ jumped out. Only at that moment were the Devils in the surroundings able to see them with their Divine Senses, as if something was blocking them until a second ago.

Naturally, those ’devils’ were none other than Rean, Roan, Kentucky, and Celis. When they were getting close, their Divine Senses noticed the city above. Still using their Divine Senses, they avoided the city constructions and the crowds of devils, coming out in this alley.

It wasn’t a bad thing to come out straight inside a city. Divine Senses were everywhere, so no one would pay attention to the twins’ group’s ones.

"Finally!" Kentucky felt reinvigorated to see the surface again. "Seventeen years! We dug, dug, and dug even more for seventeen fucking years! Just how far underground did we appear?"

Rean sighed, also feeling relieved to see the surface. "If Roan wasn’t there to tell the difference in the concentration of Dark Element, I might have thought we were never going to reach the surface in our lives. Even so, I just can’t look at another tunnel anytime soon."

"How disappointing. It was just some dirty," Celis commented. "Besides, I was the one doing most of the job."

Rean and Kentucky looked at him. "You are a Demon Tree! You obviously have a much easier time moving the earth than we do."

"Alright, that’s enough," Roan stopped them. "Let’s take a look around and see if we can get some information."
