Chapter 3778: Then Get Ready

He began to fly back as Rean followed. No one noticed the twins. By now, Rean and Roan noticed that the Umbras can’t use Divine Senses, and they don’t seem to be able to feel each other’s presence. They also don’t have the Natural Spatial Perception the twins had... Well, the Natural Spatial Perception was actually useless for the twins. They are behind the fabric of space, so everything inside the Spatial Perception Field was nothing but a blur.

Suddenly, nine clouds darted from behind some of the Black Spheres, aiming at the two Umbras.

"Fuck!" The Level Two Umba noticed what was happening, and he immediately stopped trying to absorb the Level One guy.

Unfortunately for him, the same guy he had captured was waiting for this moment, and he didn’t allow the Level Two Umbra to detach itself, as if the Level One guy wanted to continue to be absorbed. "Think you can escape?! Now is my time, our time!"

The nine clouds surrounded the Level Two Umbra, who immediately fought back. Laws of all kinds and that special one raged. The black colored fake elements created quite a spectacle. All nine clouds that appeared were Level One Umbras, all similar in level to the guy who had been captured.

Normally, the Level Two Umbra, especially one with a power equivalent to a Late Stage Divinity, would have managed to escape without many issues. However, not this time.

Today, Xian learned one thing he didn’t know about his Umbra Race before. When an Umbra is in the process of absorbing another Umbra’s energy, they connect to each other through their souls. That’s the only way they can absorb their target’s Shadow/Emotional Energy.

During that moment, if one side purposely doesn’t let go of the connection, breaking it becomes difficult, and both sides have their strength diminished to a great extent.

There was a problem for the Level One guy, though. For him to hold that connection in place, he was paying a big price. After all, the Level Two Umbra was much stronger. His mind and memories were suffering more than Xian ever did when he had his energy taken.

The guy didn’t seem to care. If anything, Roan could tell that this wasn’t the first time this group had used this method. ’They have experience... and they don’t care about the consequences.’

The Level Two Umbra used all his might to try to cut the connection, but he was also being attacked by the other nine Level One Umbras. That disparity in numbers sealed his fate.

It only took a minute, and the Level Two Umbra’s soul was broken. Things didn’t end there. The nine Level One Umbras, and also that first one, jumped into the fragments of that soul, connecting to them and using the connections to absorb all the Level Two Umbra’s Shadow Energy!

It was a banquet! So much Shadow Energy that they would need ten thousand Xians to make up for it.

Rean narrowed his eyes as he watched that. ’They seem to be going crazy...’

Roan agreed with him. ’They probably don’t care about the consequences of absorbing Shadow Energy from an Umbra that didn’t let go of it. It’s that thing about compliance and hostility that Xian told us. Hostile Shadow Energy is harmful to the soul, but it sure does look to be worth the risks.’

Then, Roan coldly smiled. ’I wonder which one of them will survive in the end.’

Rean and Xian were taken aback. Then, they saw what happened next.

All those ten shadows seemed to react at the same time, and their targets changed!

They all began to absorb the Shadow Energy from each other. Even that guy who had lured the Level Two. In the mixed dark clouds, Xian noticed a few things that the twins couldn’t. ’Some of them formed alliances, others are working alone, but their intentions are clear for everyone to see.’

Sure enough, in that state, Xian could now feel the Umbras’ intentions. It’s just that he felt terrible as he looked and felt it all. ’Even those allied with someone else know that the alliance is only momentary to eliminate the majority. This is so... how did they reach such a conclusion? They managed to bring down a Level Two Umbra. There was so much energy for everyone. Why can’t they share?’

Roan glanced at him. ’In the face of overwhelming benefits, one’s true nature often comes out. Besides, it is obvious that their souls have been in this kind of environment for a long time. Roan snorted. ’You say that now, but do you think you will think like that during your final years?’

Xian was adamant. ’Yes! So what if I’m getting close to the day I will be absorbed by the Constructor Orb? I’ve been close to death so many times, and I always go back to Big Sister and the little ones. And I know my Big Sister, my Big Brothers who already aren’t here anymore, and many others are just like me. Not all of us will turn like that, even up to the day we die. I can speak with confidence. If I’m close to my last years, I will work even harder to help as many of the little ones as possible, so that more like me will follow my Big Brothers and Sisters path, my path, our path!’

Roan’s eyebrow raised a little. That was a major statement for a childish guy like Xian. ’Very well. Then get ready. I have an idea.’
