Chapter 3709: It Might Work
And yet, Roan didn’t detect any lies coming from Bakon. "In any case, we will need to change our appearances again. Celis has already found where the Demon Beasts’ Territory is, so we will go there."
Rean agreed with Roan, heading out of the city. He also checked the Werdlem Network of that region, trying to find information regarding that event in the hotel. Rean and Kentucky’s faces were everywhere in the network already. In the end, the experts in the hotel didn’t find anything, but that raised a few alarms.
After all, they came looking for Rean and Kentucky, but they didn’t find those two anywhere in the city. That alone was suspicious. Could it be that a real Minokawa truly came to the humanoid races’ territory? No one could be certain since the targets weren’t captured.
Rean flew away from the city, feeling various Divine Senses as he left. Some were even in the Elemental Space Realm, but nothing worth worrying about. Soon, he left their range, and he released his cultivation. With a cutting motion, space tore open, and a Spatial Gate was created. Finally, he entered it and disappeared. As for the guy he had captured to steal his identity, Rean left him in a random corner somewhere. He would wake up sooner or later on his own.
---
"What do you mean a Minokawa appeared in our territory?"
Somewhere else, still in the central area of the Divine Realm of Universe F974, an old man glared at his subordinate. His name was Glentiu, the sect master of the Vodel Sect, the same sect that went after Kentucky.
"We are still investigating," his subordinate said. "We got the images of a Demon Beast in humanoid form entering a recently built city called Defis. Yet, when we got there and invaded the hotel where this Demon Beast was staying, the room was empty. Here, sir. These are the images and recordings we collected from the bird and his companion."
Several images appeared, including various video recordings of the places Rean and Kentucky had walked in the city. "Hum? What did they buy in that store?"
"The CD chips, sir." The guy then changed the information. "We took all the Chip IDs and sent them to the Ermmel Clan."
"Alright," Glentiu nodded. "Did you check the hotel? Perhaps they left their Werdlem ID registered there."
"We did," the subordinate confirmed. "Unfortunately, the human that was with the Minokawa paid in Divine Stones. He did not use his Werdlem ID, so we aren’t sure yet of their identity."
Glentiu pondered a bit. "Could this be a trap? A Minokawa shouldn’t have been able to enter our humanoid races’ territory without anyone noticing. Tell everyone to be careful. Chances are that the guy isn’t a Minokawa at all."
"Understood!" The subordinate accepted the order and left straight away.
---
Back on Rean’s side, he stepped out of his Spatial Gate, already many continents of distance away from where he arrived. His expression wasn’t very good, though.
*Zush!*
Kentucky also appeared outside, taking a look around. "Being able to use Spatial Gates again truly helps a lot."
Rean completely agreed. "Indeed. It is good that I also have my experience from back in Lisan, so I can cover quite a big distance even though I’m still in the Middle Stage of the Space-Time Realm."
Kentucky was puzzled, though. "So... why did you stop here?"
"We weren’t too far away from the Demon Beasts’ Territory, so I decided to simply go there by using my Spatial Gates. However... try to open a Spatial Gate, and you will see," Rean explained.
Kentucky immediately did as Rean said.
*Bzzzz!*
*Plac!*
The moment Kentucky tried to create the Spatial Tunnel, some kind of force rejected his spatial and time powers, and the Spatial Gate collapsed before it even took form. "There is a Spatial Distortion Barrier in place preventing Spatial Gates from opening."
Rean had experienced the same. "Since even you can’t open a Spatial Gate, it is even less likely that I can do it. You are the best of us with Spatial Powers, after all. It isn’t anything surprised, of course. With this war going on, you would expect that all five territories have raised their own protection systems, formations, rules, etc. This Spatial Distortion Barrier is likely here to prevent Demon Beasts from coming inside instead of the other way around. The Demon Beasts probably have something similar in place, too."
Zangeshu couldn’t help but ask from within the Dimensional Realm. ’Isn’t it a little meaningless? We are talking about an entire Divine Realm here. Can the five kinds of races really prevent the other sides from invading? The resources necessary to create a formation or something that could achieve that would be ridiculous.’
"It’s not really that unheard of," Rean shook his head. "Back in Lisan, the war to recapture the Northeast side of the Realm of Gods had similar gigantic protection formations in place. Sure, not everything was completely covered, but they showed it was possible."
"But they also had to ask Hyeoumu to stop the Continental Barriers..." Kentucky added. That was definitely the main game changer in that war.
"Anyway," Rean shrugged. "The fact is that this Spatial Distortion Barrier is in place, so going to the Demon Beasts’ Territory through Spatial Gates won’t work."
"So we simply fly there?" Kentucky asked. They might be in the Space-Time Realm, but without Spatial Gates, even that cultivation would require a very long time to cover all the distance.
Roan’s voice echoed this time. ’There is bound to be at least a few Teleport Formations active that circumvent these restrictions. It is not like you can completely shut off everyone from ever interacting.’
"Actually, I have a better idea," Rean smiled. "Spatial Gates can’t be opened, but the teleport between humanoid cities is most likely still working. We don’t need a teleport formation that brings us to the Demon Beasts’ Territories. We only need the teleport formations that bring us close to the border. Once there, Kentucky and I should be more than capable of traversing to the other side on our own."
Roan thought about it and had to admit it might work. ’Alright. Give it a try then.’
