The Forsaken's Revenge

Chapter 257: Asking for a Favor!

"It's a long story..." Gao Feng shook his head helplessly.

"Get in the car first," Chen Zheng said, nodding slowly as Zhao Feng hurriedly opened the door.

Looking flattered, Gao Feng seated himself very carefully inside.

They drove directly to the Feng Family estate. On the way, Gao Feng took the small Vitality Pill that Chen Zheng had given him, and his condition improved significantly. He then took the opportunity to explain the reason for his injuries.

"Last night, someone tried to make a move on Mr. Feng. The assailant was a master-level expert with internal energy! If Master Chen hadn't revised my cultivation method for me, allowing me to recover some of my strength, I'm afraid I would have died last night!"

As he spoke, Gao Feng's expression grew solemn. Only someone who had personally experienced the previous night's crisis could truly understand the danger.

"An expert with internal energy? Could it be someone from the Alliance?" Chen Zheng's brow furrowed slightly.

"It's not certain if they were from the Alliance, but I'm sure this matter is inextricably linked to Ronghua Group," Gao Feng said, his expression cold.

"Ronghua Group?" At the sudden mention of the name, Chen Zheng's eyes flickered.

Five years ago, Ronghua Group had plotted against his family, leading to their downfall. His father had passed away because of it, and the main instigator was Ma Wangshan of Ronghua Group. He had already sent Zhao Feng to investigate the extent of Ronghua Group's connection to that incident, and he expected results soon. Because of this, he felt absolutely no goodwill toward the company.

"Ronghua Group and Mr. Feng's Jingsheng Group are the two capital firms with the most potential for future dominance. For many years, both have been locked in a vicious battle within the industry," Gao Feng explained, his face pale. "Each has had its victories and defeats. In the past, this wouldn't have been an issue, but this year the situation has begun to change. The pie in Jiangnan is only so big, and one side will have to pay the price. Sooner or later, one of them will be forced out."

As the saying goes, the marketplace is a battlefield, and the bloodshed involved is no less than that of actual combat. The games played between these financial giants, with their various dark methods and brutal truths, were shocking to witness. In this high-level competition, no matter how strong one's backing was, the slightest oversight could lead to a fall into an abyss.

Nearly half an hour later, the jeep arrived at an extraordinarily splendid manor.

The estate was as large as three football fields. In a place like Jiangnan, where every inch of land is worth its weight in gold, to possess such a property was a testament to Feng Jingsheng's immense power. No wonder his nickname was Feng the God of Wealth; he had certainly earned it.

Chen Zheng had initially imagined someone of this caliber to be vigorous and arrogant, but the man he met was someone else entirely. The person standing before him was a man in his fifties with an ordinary demeanor, graying hair, and a face etched with deep weariness. Compared to others his age, he looked much older. Attaining this level of status required an amount of mental energy unimaginable to ordinary people. Behind the shimmering façade lay many unknown hardships.

When Feng Jingsheng saw Chen Zheng, he was startled for a moment. The young man's face seemed familiar, though he couldn't recall where he had seen it before. But seeing him approach with Gao Feng, a smile appeared on his face, and he went forward to greet them personally.

"Mr. Chen," he began warmly. "I've long heard of your great reputation; it truly precedes you. I must also thank you for saving my daughter in Yunshan. I have prepared a humble reception to welcome you and wash away the dust from your travels.

"Please, I hope you won't find it lacking." Feng Jingsheng approached with a smile, taking Chen Zheng's hand. His demeanor was incredibly amiable, like that of a friendly neighbor.

"You're too kind, Mr. Feng," Chen Zheng replied, nodding slowly. His gaze flickered for a moment before his expression returned to calm.

At this moment, the spacious courtyard was already set for a banquet. Those present included not only members of the Feng family but also several of Feng Jingsheng's trusted confidants and all the top executives from his group. His daughter, Feng Yueyue, was naturally among them.

Today, Feng Yueyue wore a light blue coat and makeup, giving her an icy, distant air that set her apart from other women at a single glance. She appeared to be discussing the stock market with people from the group. Several stocks with great potential had recently been listed, and the opportunities were fleeting. For those who made their living through investing, it was a rare chance.

"Yueyue, look who's here," Feng Jingsheng said suddenly. "Mr. Chen is the one who saved your life. Come and thank him properly."

Instantly, all eyes focused on the young man standing beside Gao Feng, and many couldn't help but frown. They had heard the chairman was inviting a very important guest, but they never expected it would be a young man in his early twenties. The key issue was his attire. It was far too casual, a stark contrast to the luxurious manor. Not everyone judged by appearances, but in high society, looks and demeanor were extremely important. The truly wealthy could be recognized instantly by their aura. This young man, however, seemed utterly ordinary, with nothing special about him.

Feng Yueyue also frowned slightly, but she walked over and nodded calmly. "Mr. Chen."

She didn't feel much fondness for this lifesaver. Although he had saved her life, he had treated her with utter disregard in that situation. He even made it clear to her attacker that he could completely ignore whether she lived or died. Naturally, she couldn't show a pleasant expression to someone who regarded her life so cheaply.

"Miss Feng," Chen Zheng said with a slow nod, politely extending his right hand.

"Father, Mr. Chen has arrived. Shall we begin the banquet?" Feng Yueyue turned her head, pointedly ignoring his outstretched hand and leaving him hanging.

"Yueyue..." Feng Jingsheng frowned slightly. He had already heard about the incident at Yunshan. He had invited Chen Zheng today because he needed help with other matters, so his daughter's disrespect was problematic.

"It's fine, Mr. Feng," Chen Zheng spoke directly. "Chairman Gao already told me about the assassination attempt you faced last night. I assume this meeting isn't just for a meal, so please feel free to say what you need to."
