At night, flocks of birds nestled on broken branches, beneath the grasses, and among the shrubs.
They were sleeping soundly when suddenly an unusual vibration startled them awake.
The birds flew out of the forest en masse and looked up at the night sky.
The sky of this world was a massive barrier, separating Chaos from the land.
Yet at that moment, a blue light appeared there.
"What is that?"
A monkey perched on a tree looked over: "Is the sky going to break open again?"
The words it spoke caused unease to ripple through the nearby animals.
They stared at the night sky, where at first there was only a blue point of light.
But soon, the light expanded, covering the entire night sky like a vast dream.
It glowed brighter than the moon, blue and white intertwined as if wrapped in a layer of water-blue "gauze."
The animals could clearly see the clouds, oceans, and lands beneath the gauze.
That was another world.
"Why would there be land in the sky?"
The animals were thrown into confusion.
Until a streak of Immortal Light crossed the sky and the voice of the Mountain God sounded.
"The guests are arriving, there is no need for alarm."
After the voice faded, the animals calmed down.
They looked up at the sky, where among the dreamscape beams of Immortal Light descended.
Each one radiated a terrifying presence.
Nuwa led the Immortals out of the Heavenly Palace and waited in the sky.
The first to arrive was a female Immortal surrounded by stars.
"We mean no harm."
She said: "We have come looking for someone."
Nuwa gazed at her and smiled.
After three years, she finally met the person Sun Wukong had spoken of.
"Are you Ao Luan?"
Nuwa asked.
Ao Luan's brows knitted slightly: "You recognize me?"
"Of course, His Majesty left me your portrait."
Nuwa replied, then turned to the Immortals beside Ao Luan, calling out their names one by one.
The Immortals stood in stunned silence, seeming to understand, and became excited.
Nuwa invited the Immortals to the Heavenly Palace to receive them and cleanse the dust from their journey.
After Sun Wukong's departure, the two worlds had made contact.
Before long, Nuwa and the Immortals were invited to the Three Realms.
The Immortals had never seen a world so prosperous and thriving.
Each one that returned did so with a look of astonishment.
Following that, the Immortals of the Three Realms descended to earth, teaching Wanling, spreading the teachings of the Way.
Cities appeared on the ground, and people's hands began to glow with specks of light.
That was the glow of the Immortal Law, recording the changes in the world.
After a few years, an Immortal Island enveloped in mist appeared in the skies above the East Sea.
"This is Wanling Island, our most excellent craftsmen have forged this Immortal Island."
Ao Luan told Nuwa: "After we leave, you can communicate with us on this island."
Nuwa looked at the Immortal Island, amazed that it could facilitate interaction between Chaos and the Three Realms.
Originally, to counter a great calamity, the Three Realms had popularized the Immortal Law for over a hundred years, which was now fully effective.
"The power of the Three Realms is truly inconceivable."
Nuwa exclaimed: "I understand now why His Majesty is Your Majesty."
She looked at Ao Luan: "Your generosity and tolerance are beyond our capacity to repay; perhaps only in your world can one like His Majesty be cultivated."
Ao Luan shook her head: "You're wrong."
"Wrong?"
Nuwa asked out of curiosity: "What's wrong?"
"Only an elder brother could nurture a world like the Three Realms."
Ao Luan answered.
Nuwa paused, then burst into a knowing laugh.
"That's also true..."
After the arrival of the Three Realms, she had heard many tales of Sun Wukong.
His reverence in the Three Realms far exceeded that in this world.
"His Majesty has a noble heart."
Nuwa declared: "Wherever he goes, there will surely be those who follow."
Ao Luan nodded, a smile appearing on her lips.
"That's why we must hurry to catch up."
She bade farewell to Nuwa, turning into a stream of Immortal Light and flying toward the dreamscape in the sky.
Then, countless glimmers of light rose up from all over, joining her back to the Three Realms.
These were the Immortals scattered across the land, ready to set forth again after completing their tasks.
Fu Xi gathered with the local Immortals by Nuwa's side, watching those departing lights.
"Now that they're gone, who knows when we'll see them again."
Fu Xi felt somewhat forlorn.
Having seen the Three Realms, many of his thoughts had changed.
"His Majesty said he would unshackle all worlds."
Nuwa clasped her hands and looked at the sky: "We must hurry up and follow suit."
Perhaps this is a tale warmer than anyone could imagine.
Endless Chaos stretches far and wide, as the Three Realms fly towards their next destination.
In the wake of their flight, invisible to ordinary mortals, fine sparks of light fell upon the Chaos.
"What is that?"
At the edge of the Vast Ocean, the Golden Boy and Jade Girl saw the fine light in the sky.
"Pathways."
The person behind them looked up and said: "The Heavenly Emperor is opening pathways; his people follow closely behind, and where they pass, pathways will emerge."
"When the people of this world grow up."
The person spoke: "They can follow this path to find the Heavenly Emperor."
The Golden Boy and Jade Girl turned around: "How does our master know?"
The person shook his head: "A long, long time ago, there was a Venerable who did the same."
That Venerable told his followers, the sparks produced by life as it moved through Chaos would eventually light up the entire Chaos.
Yet, in the end, the Venerable himself destroyed everything.
