In the morning, four elderly monkeys reported to Sun Wukong.
"Great King, the second disciple of the Western Buddha, Elder Jin Chan wishes to meet with you."
"Elder Jin Chan?"
A look of astonishment flashed through Sun Wukong's eyes.
He noticed the descent of Buddha Light last night and became alert, but he did not expect the visitor to be Elder Jin Chan.
This Elder Jin Chan is the future Tang Seng—also the second master destined for Sun Wukong.
"Interesting." A thought flashed through Sun Wukong's mind, fearless, he said: "Let him come in."
A group of monks walked into Shuilian Cave.
Guang Hui, with a face full of joy, greeted Sun Wukong: "Monkey King, Elder Jin Chan wants to see you."
Sun Wukong nodded: "Where is he?"
"Right here."
Guang Hui turned around, his smile frozen: "Where is Elder Jin Chan?"
He was just here a moment ago, how could he suddenly disappear.
The monks behind were also looking at each other with faces of strangeness, where did Elder Jin Chan go?
Sun Wukong furrowed his brows.
He made a quick calculation in secret and soon knew the whereabouts of Elder Jin Chan.
"I know where he is."
Sun Wukong stood up and said: "I'll go fetch him."
Guang Hui promptly bowed: "Thank you for the trouble, Monkey King."
With one step, Sun Wukong vanished from Shuilian Cave.
He was using the Shrinking Earth Technique, and with one step, he arrived at Yongchun Island.
"Brother, wait for me!"
A petite figure descended from the sky; it was Ao Luan.
Immortal Zhen Yuan followed behind her with an amused expression.
"What's the matter?"
Sun Wukong asked.
Ao Luan's face was livid: "I heard another bald monk has come to Huaguo Mountain."
She was so angered she could hardly stand it. Why couldn't those damnable bald monks leave her brother alone? One elder wasn't enough, and now even the disciple of Buddha had come.
Could they not let her brother be!
"Brother, are you going to meet him?"
Ao Luan looked at Sun Wukong nervously.
A thought crossed Sun Wukong's mind; it was better not to let Ao Luan, who was hostile towards Buddhism, meet Jin Chanzi.
"He is a disciple of Buddha; I cannot be impolite."
Sun Wukong took out a wooden sword and handed it to Ao Luan, saying: "Don't worry, I know what I'm doing."
Ao Luan took the wooden sword, caught off guard in her heart.
Why did her brother give her another wooden sword? Twice in a row, did he really come to his senses?
The anger on Ao Luan's face gradually disappeared, turning into a slight heat instead.
She was too embarrassed to stay and quickly turned and left.
Immortal Zhen Yuan watched this scene, sighing with emotion.
The young Ao Luan didn't know yet that there were still ninety-nine wooden swords in Sun Wukong's possession.
"Junior Brother." Immortal Zhen Yuan said to Sun Wukong: "I would like to meet Elder Jin Chan as well."
Sun Wukong took him along, asking: "Have you not seen him before?"
"No."
Immortal Zhen Yuan shook his head.
Sun Wukong understood in his heart; the Ullambana Festival must not have started yet.
He and Immortal Zhen Yuan soon met Elder Jin Chan.
Though called an elder, Jin Chanzi looked quite young, his face as flawless as white jade, emanating a gentle Buddha Light.
He stood beside a waterwheel, surrounded by a group of demons.
"No wonder Tang Seng could attract so many female demons."
Looking at Elder Jin Chan, Sun Wukong could not help but admit inwardly that this guy indeed had the makings of a pretty boy.
Immortal Zhen Yuan gave a light snort, seemingly not impressed with Golden Cicada.
The two walked towards Jin Chanzi, who was apologizing to the demons.
"Esteemed guests, this poor monk did not know these plants were your cultivation, damaging them warrants an apology."
The demons looked furious: "They're ruined, how will you compensate?"
"Monk, these are new varieties we've worked hard to breed for years."
Jin Chanzi had accidentally trampled the new crops the demons had cultivated.
By the time Sun Wukong stepped forward, Jin Chanzi had already taken out a bottle from his sleeve.
"There is some amrita in here that can revive these crops with just a drop."
The demons were clearly skeptical.
Jin Chanzi opened the bottle and let a tiny drop of amrita fall to the ground.
He then recited a Spell, and the dead crops in the field immediately started growing at a visible speed.
The demons were utterly stunned.
Sun Wukong walked over and gestured the demons to back off.
"The elder has a kind and generous heart."
He said to Jin Chanzi, "To waste such a treasure for these insignificant crops."
Jin Chanzi glanced at him, instantly recognizing his identity, and said with a smile, "The Monkey King flatters me."
"I am Zhen Yuanzi."
Immortal Zhenyuan walked over.
Jin Chanzi did not dare to be negligent and quickly paid his respects.
Zhen Yuanzi, being the Ancestor of Earth Immortals and of noble status, was far superior to him.
After exchanging a few pleasantries, the three of them walked towards Shuilian Cave.
"Here in my Huaguo Mountain, we lack many things and can't compare to the Western Pure Land," Sun Wukong asked Jin Chanzi, "Elder, what brings you here all of a sudden?"
Knowing he was being prodded, Jin Chanzi laughed and said, "Huaguo Mountain isn't as bad as the Monkey King says."
Though he had only been there for half a day, he was greatly pleased by the scenic beauty of Huaguo Mountain, a place of outstanding people and magical land.
In particular, here at Yongchun Island, Jin Chanzi admired the little demons tilling the land like humans but occasionally relying on some Daoist Talismans and tools he had never seen before, employing methods unheard of, even more advanced than humans.
And those experimental crops in the field impressed him greatly.
"It's a pity, though, that while the crops are important, the land has been forgotten," Jin Chanzi suddenly sighed. "Land is the root, and if it could be made fertile, why should there be worry of poor harvest?"
Sun Wukong's heart flickered.
He looked at Jin Chanzi: "Elder, do you have a solution?"
"If the Monkey King doesn't have one, how could I?" Jin Chanzi said with a smile, "But I think if my amrita could be reproduced, the soil problem could be solved."
Sun Wukong and Immortal Zhen Yuan exchanged glances, both somewhat surprised.
This Jin Chanzi was talented, having identified the key issue shortly after arriving at Huaguo Mountain.
The issue of the soil was something Sun Wukong had planned for a long time.
His first thought was of fertilizers, but having not succeeded in creating them, he had discussed this issue with Immortal Zhen Yuan several times, yet to no great result.
Jin Chanzi was so intelligent; perhaps more ideas could be excavated from him.
The thought flickered through Sun Wukong's mind.
"Elder Jin Chan."
He was about to explain to Jin Chanzi when he turned his head to see that Jin Chanzi had disappeared into thin air.
"Where did he go?"
Sun Wukong was surprised.
Immortal Zhen Yuan was also shocked; in just a moment of distraction, Jin Chanzi had vanished.
After some deduction, the two quickly found Jin Chanzi by the seashore.
Sun Wukong was puzzled, "Elder, what are you doing here?"
"I would like to ask the two of you as well," Jin Chanzi pressed his hands together, "I was following you, and just as I turned my head, you two disappeared."
"It appears you have come here without me realizing it."
Such a reaction did not look like he had gotten lost, but rather as if it were Sun Wukong and the other that had disappeared.
A thought crossed Sun Wukong's mind.
Could Elder Jin Chan be directionally challenged?
