The Tathāgata Must Fail

Chapter 380: A Long Story

"The Three Realms must integrate as one, which requires learning to be inclusive and getting Wanling to accept the concept of a unified world."

Sun Wukong strolled along the mountain paths of Wudang.

"To achieve this is no simple task; it generally involves three aspects..."

The first is the economic monetary order, the second is the national order, and the last one—faith and religion.

"For us, we can only start with the first."

Sun Wukong said, "Develop technology, create economy. All Four Great Continents are markets; establishing a universal and omnipresent economic order may break the first psychological boundary of Wanling."

Ao Luan followed behind him and asked, "We've already done this in smaller worlds, can it still be effective under the current circumstances?"

"Yes."

Sun Wukong answered, "Unless all Three Great Continents isolate themselves entirely, how can it be unresolved?"

Wanling Country has been experimenting economically for two hundred years and has vast experience, now occupying an absolute advantage.

"Don't worry, I've found you a helper."

Sun Wukong said, "In a few days, Lady Earth Flow will come to see you."

"She..."

Ao Luan asked in surprise, "When did she come back?"

"A few days ago."

Sun Wukong said.

Lady Earth Flow's loyalty is unquestionable, and she harbors ambitions.

She joined Wanling Country later in the smaller world and missed the early opportunities; this time, she won't miss her chance.

"Make good use of her wisdom to establish an economic order suitable for the Four Great Continents."

Sun Wukong said, "This will be useful for us later to seize control of the Three Realms."

"Yes."

Ao Luan watched Sun Wukong from behind.

The sunlight showered over him.

Brilliant and dazzling.

A warm current surged through Ao Luan's entire body.

"Older Brother, how should we use that tear?"

Ao Luan reigned in his emotions and then asked, "Shall we go to Lingshan to demand the Jade Bottle?"

"It won't be of any use."

Sun Wukong shook his head and said, "I'm going to give it to the Gouchen God."

"The Gouchen God?"

Ao Luan frowned slightly: "Rather than giving it to him, it might be better to give it to Lord Lao Zi of the Great Monad."

"Gouchen is more useful."

Sun Wukong stated.

Though Gouchen lacks the seniority of Lord Lao Zi, he remains a War God with greater potential.

"I have a way to enhance Gouchen's power."

Sun Wukong declared, "With him in my hand, he alone can withstand all the Immortals of Lingshan."

This is crucial for his struggle against the Buddha.

Several days later, Sun Wukong returned to Huaguo Mountain.

He went to the ocean floor, recalling the last arrangement, greeted the Immortal first, then turned to Gouchen.

"You've come here several times to no avail."

Gouchen spoke, "I've said it; I will not submit to you."

Sun Wukong produced the tear.

"That is..."

Gouchen's pupils dilated, recognizing what it was.

"Do you think restoring the memories of that world will change my mind?"

Gouchen burst into laughter, "You underestimate me."

"It's not underestimating you."

Sun Wukong unsealed the tear: "But rather, I believe in you."

He held the tear in front of Gouchen.

"You will regret this!"

Gouchen's eyes burst into light, and he absorbed the tear.

The tear flew towards Gouchen's forehead, suddenly emitting a burst of light.

The next second, Gouchen felt a headache, a lengthy historical scroll unfolded before his eyes.

From the segregation of the heavens, to the emergence of Wanling Country and the Three Thousand Immortal Paths, right up to Sun Wukong becoming the Dao, and Ao Luan harboring resentment to conquer the Southern Continent...

That day, Houtu confined him in the palace.

He was summoned by the Jade Emperor to oversee the Underworld, had always gotten along very well with Lady Houtu, but when the Jade Emperor needed help the most and Sun Wukong appeared, Houtu confined him.

"You cannot help the Jade Emperor."

She said, "I will persuade them to cooperate together."

She told Gouchen that in that contentious future, there was still a possibility of coexistence, and for this, she wanted to share Sun Wukong's curse.

Gouchen felt puzzled: "Your Majesty, is Sun Wukong worth such efforts from you?"

"Indeed."

Houtu replied: "In him, I found the reason for the destruction and rebirth of the Three Realms."

This answer shocked Gouchen.

The Three Realms, every so often, would be destroyed and reborn.

Houtu found the essence of the Three Realms in Sun Wukong, much like a mother.

"A mother nurtures her children, hoping they can leave her and soar."

Houtu said, "If the children cannot soar, the Three Realms will destroy itself and nurture new offspring."

It was a possibility Gouchen had never considered.

It was an answer all Immortals and Buddhas dared not contemplate.

"If that's the case, then isn't Sun Wukong..."

Gouchen feared that answer.

"Sun Wukong is on the right path."

Houtu stated: "He is executing the will of the Three Realms."

Later on, Sun Wukong indeed escaped the Three Realms.

In search of the future, he destroyed the Three Realms himself.

Gouchen didn't understand then, but after witnessing the destruction of those Three Realms, he now somewhat grasped it.

Sun Wukong's strength lies in his relentless progress.

He led people from a small world out and found a new future.

Where will this Three Realms head to in the future then?

Beyond the Three Realms, what kind of world exists?

Gouchen looked at Sun Wukong again, his deep eyes gradually solidifying into a firm will.

"I will not acknowledge your Heavenly Emperor position."

He said so.

Sun Wukong slightly frowned: "Then will you stop me?"

"No."

Gouchen shook his head, saying, "Let me see."

In that long memory, he saw clearly that the Three Realms could no longer remain stagnant.

"Let me see where you will lead the Three Realms to."

"That's enough."

Sun Wukong turned and left: "In one day, the seal on this mountain will unlock itself."

Gouchen watched his departing figure.

"Sun Wukong!"

He called and said, "When Your Majesty returns, I am still his subject."

Sun Wukong paused his steps.

"...That does not conflict."

He resumed his steps and left the seabed.

"Does it not conflict?"

Gouchen muttered to himself, indeed there was no conflict.

The conflict between the Three Thousand Immortal Paths and the Wanling Heavenly Dao had long ended; once the Jade Emperor returns smoothly, Shangqing and Yuqing can naturally let go of their grievance.

Only Buddhist, and Wanling Heavenly Dao were mortal enemies.

The unresolved conflict of the small world continued in this world.

But...

"Can Buddha stop the inevitable?"

Gouchen pondered.

If Sun Wukong truly executed the will of the Three Realms, who could stop him?

"Hey..."

A voice arose beside Gouchen.

Gouchen turned his head to see the curious Huangjiao Immortal: "What exactly did you see, would you mind telling me what happened in that world?"

"Ah..."

Gouchen closed his eyes.

"It's a long story."

It was too long, he didn't feel like talking, and decided to sleep first.
