Sun Wukong spent three days and nights in the Winter Palace, while in Wanling City, Ao Luan sent a palace maid to play around with the little phoenix.
Under the statue of Daji, the little phoenix ran several circles around it.
"So big!"
The little phoenix stopped in her steps to look up at the statue.
It was the biggest statue she had ever seen, and it took a long time to run a single circle around it.
"Why isn't it a statue of the Great King?"
She asked the palace maid.
"The Great King didn't participate in the competition."
The palace maid answered, casually dusting off the little phoenix.
The maid treated her like a little princess these past few days because this young girl possessed such vast divine skills at such a tender age, with a future beyond measure.
"Is there anything else fun to do here?"
After the novelty of the statue had worn off, the little phoenix looked around. Aside from the pairs of lovers on the square, there didn't seem to be anything interesting.
Oh, and there was a strange fellow.
"Who is that?"
The little phoenix pointed at a girl about a hundred meters away.
The girl leaned against a bench with a book in hand, the sunlight showering upon her, too dazzlingly beautiful to describe.
The palace maid looked in the direction of the girl, a puzzled look on her face: "Is there someone there?"
"Yes." The little phoenix nodded: "You can't see her?"
The palace maid nodded.
Without hesitation, the little phoenix ran towards her: "I'll bring her over."
Having run a few steps, the girl seemed to notice and looked up at the little phoenix with a slight smile, then disappeared.
The little phoenix was startled and involuntarily stopped.
"What happened?"
The palace maid came over and asked.
"That person left."
The little phoenix said.
Looking at the couples around her, the palace maid had a thought: "Does she have long golden hair?"
"Yes."
The little phoenix nodded.
"I know who she is."
The palace maid responded: "She is a disciple of the Matchmaking God, we all call her White Lady."
The girl was actually the Bone Lady.
Due to the special nature of her job, she often had to conceal her presence.
"A disciple of the Matchmaking God?"
The little phoenix's eyes began to twirl curiously.
"Alright, little princess."
Laughing, the palace maid picked her up: "I'll take you to a fun place."
She took the little phoenix to the bustling Immortal Literature Hall.
"Immortal Literature Hall."
The little phoenix glanced over: "Why did you bring me here?"
"Don't you like it here?"
Surprised, the palace maid said, the children of Wanling City usually loved this place.
"It's not that I dislike it... Alright, let's go in and have a look."
The little phoenix jumped out of the maid's arms and walked towards the Immortal Literature Hall.
The Immortal Literature Hall is a place for learning and practicing the Wanling Immortal Path.
Wanling City's Immortal Literature Hall is equipped with the most advanced facilities that can simulate various environments.
"The Great King planted the Wanling Tree in the Heavenly Palace, so now we can try all sorts of Daoist Skills in the Immortal Literature Hall."
The palace maid spoke and rented a practice spiritual artifact for the little phoenix.
With the advent of the Wanling Tree, various Daoist Skills could be replicated through the Immortal Literature Hall, making learning and practice much simpler.
Now, without having to purchase Daoist Skills, demons could also rent spiritual artifacts to attempt a variety of Daoist Skills.
The little phoenix tried out all the fun Daoist Skills at the training grounds and quickly got bored with them.
"Is there any place more fun?"
She glanced around at the demons cultivating nearby and said: "I want to watch a competition."
"Are you referring to the Chess Palace?"
The palace maid said: "There are all sorts of competitions held there every day, along with trials of the newest Daoist Skills."
The little phoenix immediately became interested: "Take me there to see."
The palace maid had no choice but to leave the Immortal Literature Hall with the little phoenix.
"The Chess Palace is on the other side of Mountain and Sea City, we need to go to the port first..."
The palace maid stopped mid-sentence because she noticed that the little phoenix had disappeared.
"What a handful this little princess is."
Thinking this, the palace maid couldn't help but sigh and began looking around.
What she didn't know was that the little phoenix hadn't gone far, but had jumped onto the roof of the Immortal Literature Hall, silently approaching a girl.
The girl was writing something on a notebook, her head down, when the little phoenix suddenly grabbed her from behind.
"Who?"
The girl was startled.
"Caught you, elder sister."
The little phoenix moved her head closer: "Are you The Matchmaking God's disciple?"
"Who are you?"
The girl frowned slightly.
Her Concealing Technique was taught by The Matchmaking God, and over the years, it had reached the Transformation Realm, imperceptible to all but Immortals.
Is this little girl an accomplished Immortal?
The girl found it unbelievable.
"My name is Little Phoenix."
Little Phoenix sniffed the girl: "You have the Great King's scent on you?"
"Great King?"
The girl was startled, then she realized, "Are you talking about the Great Saint?"
"Yes."
Little Phoenix let go of the girl: "Is that in your hand the Marriage Book?"
The girl looked at Little Phoenix, and after a long while, she smiled: "Are you one of the Great Saint's people?"
Little Phoenix nodded her head.
The girl let out a breath of relief; her book must remain a secret, as many demons in Wanling Country were looking for her.
"This is the Marriage Book."
The girl said.
The Marriage Book was a result of her cultivation; she had drawn half a century's worth of red threads before it finally took shape.
With the Marriage Book in her possession, she could truly be considered The Matchmaking God.
"Is my name inside?"
Little Phoenix asked.
"Let me check..."
The girl flipped through the Marriage Book and said: "However, your name shouldn't be under my control."
She searched for a long time, indeed unable to find Little Phoenix's name.
Little Phoenix was somewhat unwilling to give up.
"What about the Great King's?"
She asked again.
"Not even my master has control over the Great Saint, how could I manage it?"
The girl smiled.
"Oh."
Little Phoenix felt disappointed and didn't inquire further.
That night, Sun Wukong found Little Phoenix.
He was going to take Little Phoenix back, but she first ran to her room, and when she came out again, she was covered in packages.
Sun Wukong swept a glance over the packages, which contained various toys, snacks, and other things.
"Who gave you these?"
He asked.
"Lots of people."
Little Phoenix replied.
She had stayed in Wanling Country for three days and had met many people.
Sun Wukong readied the Auspicious Cloud, taking her away from Wanling City.
"Do you like Wanling?"
He asked.
"Like it."
Little Phoenix replied.
Sun Wukong smiled: "Then come here in a few years, and govern this place with Ao Luan and the others."
But Little Phoenix was slightly reluctant: "Great King, I don't know how to govern."
"You can learn if you don't know how."
Sun Wukong shook his head; Little Phoenix was very smart and with a little cultivation, could completely become the next Ao Luan.
As opposed to immortals, he now needed capable governors more.
"Don't worry."
Sun Wukong patted Little Phoenix's head: "You can definitely do well."
Little Phoenix covered her head: "The Great King understands nothing."
"What do you mean?"
Sun Wukong looked at her.
Little Phoenix quickly shifted her gaze again.
"Does the Great King only need people for the sake of the Three Realms?"
She asked: "When one day we are no longer useful to you, will the Great King abandon us?"
Sun Wukong frowned slightly: "Why would you ask that?"
Little Phoenix did not reply.
