Chapter 2080: Chapter 2090: He Seems to Be in a Bad Mood
Enna Clark had no idea that Baron Lawrence went to see Skye Lawrence, nor did she know that Skye had a miscarriage due to severe emotional turmoil and two days of malnutrition.
After she chatted for a while with Bobby, Gigi, and Old Master Lawrence, she accompanied the Old Master for dinner. Once he showed signs of fatigue, she took the two little ones back to Birch Garden.
She had just managed to lull Gigi to sleep.
Only after watching a cartoon episode with Bobby did she finally manage to extricate herself and leave the room.
The man who had been absent all night finally showed up.
Enna Clark heard the sound of the door opening and walked to the entrance hall. Seeing that the person who came back was indeed him, she furrowed her brow slightly and asked, "Baron Lawrence, where did you go? What happened at the company, why did you leave so abruptly? I didn’t even realize you left first. Did you finish handling it?"
If the housekeeper hadn’t told her he went to the company, she wouldn’t have realized he was gone earlier.
After she finished speaking, she sensed that the person in front of her wasn’t quite right emotionally. She paused for a moment and pressed down her doubts, "Have you had dinner? Do you want some noodles? I can cook for you. There’s still some tomatoes in the fridge."
Before Baron Lawrence could answer, she was already heading towards the kitchen, "Besides tomato and egg noodles, is there anything else you’d like? Should I stir-fry a dish for you?"
"Go to the living room first, there’s coffee in the coffee machine, I brewed it earlier, it’s freshly made. Have a cup to warm your stomach. Also, the sugar cubes are in the drawer, you can find them yourself."
Her voice was gentle, like a breeze. No matter how bad the mood was, seeing her and hearing her calm voice could soothe any irritation.
Baron Lawrence changed into slippers and walked into the living room.
He watched the little woman in the kitchen, wearing an apron, her busy figure.
The stone weighed on his heart because of Skye Lawrence felt less heavy now.
He never thought Skye would become like this, the whole person self-righteous and hysterical, even harboring a near-obsessive prejudice against this woman.
He couldn’t understand why Skye had turned out like this, nor did he understand her dissatisfaction with Enna Clark, becoming so uncompromising!
But Skye Lawrence grew up with him, and she was the first to speak to him when he first came to the Lawrence Family.
More than twenty years of feelings akin to family aren’t cut off just like that.
However, today, after seeing with his own eyes the extent of Skye’s prejudice against Enna Clark, and the things she did behind her back, that affection is indeed severed.
That’s why he felt an indescribable sensation, one that pressed tightly on his heart, making him irrationally irritable.
He picked up a cup and poured a cup of hot coffee, taking a sip.
The freshly brewed coffee released a rich and mellow aroma.
He took a sip, the warmth traveling down his throat, all the way to his stomach, dispelling the cold in his body.
While he was sipping the coffee absentmindedly, Enna Clark had quickly cooked the tomato and egg noodles and brought them out. As though oblivious to his somber aura, she naturally called out to him, "The noodles are ready, Baron Lawrence, come over quickly and eat while it’s hot. Otherwise, they’ll get mushy and taste bad."
Seeing him coming over, Enna Clark handed him the chopsticks with a smile, "Here are the chopsticks. Give it a try. I feel like I made them quite well today–should be better than before."
